Overview
Federal agencies, military installations and advanced commercial installations are in a constant mode of situational awareness. This includes location awareness such as geospatial positioning and graphical map presentation for all IP based video systems including NVRs and DVRs and combinations thereof. In order to achieve advanced situational awareness, the Janis Security Management System provides robust video management and integration capabilities to almost any video system. Janis provides the ability to interoperate multiple video platforms synergistically in a common environment, with full integration to access control systems, alarm systems, audio systems, mass notification systems, HVAC/Environmental systems, and more. The Janis platform also provides video awareness of the situation that can be combined with audio, enabling the ability to listen in while a situation is occurring.
In addition to the live situational awareness, Janis provides historical reports and access to recorded evidence for both audio and video with report generation and documentation. This is important from the aspect of suspect culpability and for personnel liability protection.
For these reasons it is essential to have all information relative to all situations recorded and protected for evidentiary review or admissible substantiation at a later date. The Janis™ Video and Audio integration solutions, combined with all of the other integration and interoperability aspects, provide the crucial live and recorded audio and video information necessary to complete the mission.
Janis™ with VMS Integration Features
• Full camera controls (e.g. PTZ, zoom, focus and pre-‐sets) are provided on screen. • All devices/cameras connected to VMS will be available for conditional
behaviour/policy use as part of the Janis™ platform. • Multiple monitor support for control and video display with user determined
monitor/tile view configurations. • Remote video monitor support with remote monitor configurations. • Video/Command wall synchronization with operator workstations. Janis™
provides operator workstation synchronization with video walls and command center walls for operator control and access of the videos, graphical maps, device control, etc., synchronously with their local workstations.
• CCTV matrix switcher integration is supported by Janis™ and supports most major manufacturers. To support this feature Janis™ offers camera aliasing for operator simplification. In addition, Janis™ offers a universal keyboard server. This allows any supported keyboard, such as a Pelco, AD, or other keyboard, to
3
control cameras connected to the matrix switcher and the VMS with the same keyboard.
• Video Sequence: The Janis™ platform provides the capability to assign IP camera sequences/tours to any monitor/tile in any order with dwell times defined per camera. Sequences can be comprised of IP cameras on the same video system, or on different video systems, even from different manufacturers. In addition, the sequences can be assigned to the analog matrix switcher systems also, or incorporate the existing sequences as defined on analog systems, providing full flexibility.
• Video Salvos: o The Janis™ platform provides the capability to assign IP camera salvos
(group camera calls) to any monitor/tile in any designated order. o IP salvos can be comprised of IP cameras on the same video system, or on
different video systems, even from different manufacturers. o In addition, the salvos can be assigned to the analog matrix switcher
systems also, or incorporate the existing sequences as defined on analog systems, providing full flexibility.
• Video Alarm/Event Handling:
o Alarms from any system integrated with Janis™, such as access control, alarm systems, video analytics, and so forth, can be managed by Janis™.
o The Janis™ VMS provides fully integrated functionality to call cameras to view, start recordings, start sequences, call salvos, call to assigned alarm priority monitor and viewer tile, call designated video layout, and place in queue in appropriate video tiles as additional alarms are received.
o Alarms and/or conditions can be configured to call a camera to view or record specific pre-‐set positions.
o External system alarms and/or conditions can also set a specific time period, as well as video frame rates, to record the event.
• Video Motion Alarms
o Video Motion Alarms are also supported by Janis™ and can be a conditional behaviour state as well as provide operator alerts and supported on screen and automated activities and so forth.
• Recordings caused by external system activities are automatically associated
with the event or condition in a transaction display and historical log report with video retrieval from the log.
o For example, if a report is generated on the alarms that occurred in the facility between 1PM and 3PM on a given date, the system would generate a full report inclusive of all associated details and, for any alarm
4
that was associated with the VMS video, the video could be automatically retrieved from within the report.
o By providing a dynamically linked report a separate search on VMS would not be necessary.
• In addition to automated associations as noted above, recording queries support
search by: o VMS Server (Janis™ can connect to as many VMS servers as desired) o Camera Name o Date/Time
• The Janis™ system provides the on screen player to review the video when the
query is completed.
• Other video platform interoperability. o Any Janis™ integrated IP video system can co-‐reside with other video
platforms using Janis™ VMS and is interoperable for video sequence and other integration management functions offered by Janis.
The value and feature proposition for using the Janis™ system is the same regardless of the application or market. These are as follows:
• Advanced Security –FIPS 197 and FIPS 140-‐2 compliance for encryption and authentication for all Janis™ server/client communications.
• Interoperability management between all systems connected. • Advanced graphics for AutoCAD and raster based graphical maps and vector
based icons. • Common location for all log/history including media (audio/video) for all systems
connected. • All systems and users interoperable with conditional behaviour /policies. • All operator access, monitoring, and controls are permission based. • Simple easy to use operator/user layouts that can be customized specifically for
every user ·∙ Clients can connect to multiple servers and sites concurrently with permission settings ·∙ Site and Workstation lockout and permission based takeover for hostile situations
• All system activities and conditional behaviour policies can be assigned to operate within a schedule. Schedules are unlimited and can be assigned any time zone for decentralized operations.
• Time Zone management and automated reconciliation for multiple site configuration, monitoring and control spanning various time zones.
