The Journey Continues
The road through 2016 has not
been an easy journey, but I have
learned it’s the journey and all its
lessons, twist and turns that ultimately prepare us
for the destination God has awaiting for us. When
we begin 2016, God told me it would be a year of
“Refreshment, Renewal, and Revitalization”. Alt-
hough there were various moments where our faith
in the unknown were tested, looking back, I believe
what God spoke to me then still remains true.
Throughout the last 365 days I witness a sense of
new life infused within this congregation. We have
found new strength and new energy to take on new
ministry initiatives such as, Praise & Worship Sun-
days, African American Heritage Month, and Va-
cation Bible School. We’ve extended our ministry
engagement to community partners and organiza-
tions in a greater capacity, and as a result we have
seen a continual pattern of new faces grace us dur-
ing our various worship experiences. 2016 was def-
initely a year of Refreshment, Renewal, & Revital-
ization!
“The Journey Continues”
As we all now collectively look forward to the new
things God has awaiting for us individually and
collectively in 2017. I hear God saying, “The Jour-
ney Continues”. Although we have made some sig-
nificant strides in the last year, there is still much
work to be done on the road to refreshing, renew-
ing, and revitalizing this ministry.
Our continued success on our journey towards
“Refreshment, Renewal, and Revitalization” will
require more this year than it may have in the past.
God has already entrusted us with new ministry
programs, and given us vision for our community;
we must now be willing to take “Responsibility”
for our actions to ensure we are not causing damage
or delays to Gods plans. Paying closer attention to our
actions in those moments where we are not fully clear
or in agreement with Gods plan.
We must make a commitment to do the work neces-
sary to help “Restore” this ministry to the full vibrant
ministry God has intended for it to be within this com-
munity. This is not a solo vision, this is a ministry vi-
sion, which requires the effort and participation of
everyone! Although we may not all operate in the
same capacity, we all play a significant role in the
manifestation of Gods vision for this church. This
year we must all transition from spectator to participa-
tor. In sports, although the coach typically identifies
ways of improvement for the players of a team, I be-
lieve any great coach will testify, constructive criti-
cism is most effective when it comes directly from
one active player to another active player of the team,
and is partnered with a suggestion of a solution.
Last but certainly not least, we must totally submit to
Gods plan to give “Redefinition” to our current level
of knowledge of kingdom principles. There are things
we have just gotten wrong because of our finite
minds. We must be willing to allow God to give us
new direction, correction, and broaden our perspec-
tive. What may have worked in the past may not be
effective for the future; and it’s ok! Just because we
don’t initially understand it does not mean it is outside
of God’s will! Gods plans are greater than we can
imagine, we must allow our hearts, minds, and space
to be open to God, and let go of things that are not
necessary any longer.
Isaiah 43:19 states, “See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?”
Happy New Year; “The Journey Continues”
Pastor D. Marie

Wouldn’t it be nice to have fresh flowers each week on the Altar? Did you know
you can purchase the flowers in memory or honor of a loved on? Did you know
that not only do the Altar flowers brighten up the Church on a Sunday Morning,
they also brighten someone’s day when they receive them as a gift? The person
donating the flowers may choose to bring them home, deliver them to a friend or
ask the Church to deliver them to a member who is sick or unable to attend each
week. $36.00 is a small amount when you consider all the joy flowers bring.

Cub Scout Pack 442: Gentleman’s Workshop will be held January 22 after
church, beginning about noon! We will be making bird houses and bird
feeders for a local park or to bring home and enjoy in our yards.
We also will begin the year with a Lego building workshop. This is a fun
and exciting way to learn about architecture!
We also will continue to learn about the Boy Scout law and promise.
During January and Feb we will begin to work on the various religious
awards.
This December we had a great time celebrating the holidays. We also are
gearing up for the Cookie season. If you wish to buy cookies, you may con-
tact Diana to purchase them and support the troops that meet here at FCC.
This month the girls will be learning about financial literacy. The older girls
will be doing scholarship work and learning about balancing check books and
reading pay stubs. The younger girls will be learning how to count money and begin to learn the difference
between wants and needs. They are also planning several special Silver award workshops.
We will also be going camping twice in the next few months.
