Dear Brothers We are celebrating the Sixth Sunday of Easter, a day of resurrection and joy. Jesus is within us through his resurrection. Jesus will send his healing Spirit, the testament that he leaves to us before going with his Father. The disciples are defeated with the realization that their Master is no longer with them physically. They are sad because he has told them that one of them, Judas, would betray him, and that Peter would deny him three times that same night. In today's Gospel we find two important issues; love and the promise of the Holy Spirit. The Comforter, Advocate, will strengthen the disciples so that they can face the trials of faith to the world. Jesus invites us to " love Him and keep His commandments as a faithful witness of the gospel. The faithful Christian must fulfill the will of God who loves him and whom he loves. In the times we live in, Christians face a hostile world, challenges, lies, injustice which we must face with the help of the Holy Spirit, an advocate defending our cause in court after the death and resurrection of Jesus. Jesus affirms his people that he will not leave them abandoned or orphaned, but will be in them until the end of time. The world will no longer see Jesus. The unjust society that sent him to death thought to have obtained the ultimate victory. But Jesus is life. In him, the community will live and will be able to see him. Why won’t the world see him outside of a community? Because He is manifested in love and the Holy Spirit makes Christians relive the experience of Jesus. Living the experience of the Spirit, Jesus will live in Christians hearts. Brothers and Sisters, let us heralds the gospel in our daily lives, the way we profess our faith in love. Queridos hermanos: Estamos celebrando el sexto domingo de Pascua, día de resurrección y de gozo. Jesús está entre nosotros a través de su resurrección. Jesús nos enviará al Espíritu consolador, el testamento que Jesús antes de irse al Padre, dejará a la comunidad. Los discípulos están abatidos frente a la inmensa desaparición física de su Maestro. Están tristes porque les ha confiado que uno de ellos, Judas, lo traicionaría, y que Pedro lo negaría esa misma noche, En tres ocasiones. En el Evangelio de hoy encontramos dos temas importantes; el amor y la promesa del Espíritu Santo. El Paráclito, Consolador, Abogado, vendrá a fortalecer a los discípulos para que puedan enfrentar las pruebas de la fe ante el mundo. Jesús nos invita a “Amarle y cumplir sus mandamientos como testigo fiel del evangelio. El cristiano fiel debe cumplir la voluntad de Dios que lo ama y que el ama y no sea otra cosa que poner en práctica con sus hermanos. En el tiempo que vivimos, los cristianos enfrentan un mundo hostil, de retos, mentiras, injusticias, que debe enfrentar con la ayuda del Espíritu Santo, abogado que defiende nuestra causa en los tribunales después de la muerte y resurrección de Jesús. Jesús afirma la a comunidad que no los dejara abandonados o en la orfandad, sino que estará presente en ellos hasta el fin de los tiempos. El mundo no verá más a Jesús. La sociedad injusta que lo mando a la muerte piensa haber obtenido la victoria definitiva. Pero Jesús es la vida. En El la comunidad vivirá y lo verá. Porque el mundo no lo verá mas, sino solo en la comunidad? Porque El se manifestara en el amor y en el Espíritu Santo que hace que los cristianos revivan la experiencia de Jesús. Viviendo la experiencia del Espíritu, Jesús vivirá en los cristianos. Hermanos seamos portadores del evangelio en nuestra vida diaria, en la manera que profesamos nuestra fe en el amor. Amen P. Altar Servers are needed for the English masses held on Saturdays at 5pm and Sundays at 7:30 and 9:30 am. Parents please encourage your
children that are 10 years old, have completed 5th grade and have their Sacraments to become a member of the SVDP community by serving the Lord as an Altar Server. Their service relies on your commitment to bring them and encouragement to serve the Lord. Altar Server training will be held on Saturday June 14th in the Church from 11am to 12:30pm.
