The 2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time As our country celebrates the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King this weekend, our Scriptures consider other ancestors in faith who have answered God’s call. Their responses to God changed their lives as well as the world around them. How often we miss God’s call, or need others to point it out to us. The encounter with Jesus was so powerful that it totally changed the lives of Andrew and Peter, who immediately became disciples. What helps you to “Come and see” - to seek and learn from Christ? May we have an open heart to hear God’s voice, curiosity to explore this calling, and strength to respond authentically and faithfully. As disciples of Christ, we welcome and accompany all as family on their life journey, share leadership, and joyfully live our Catholic faith. We are an alive, spirit-filled community of 1,200 families who gather to celebrate God in our midst, to engage in life long formation, and to serve others. Our unique worship space with its unfinished appearance and glass walls reminds us that our own journeys are unfinished and that the Gospel message requires us to focus outward to participate in and impact the wider world. Our Worship Center and Blessed Sacrament Chapel are open Mondays-Fridays from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. for quiet prayer time. EPIPHANY CATHOLIC CHURCH - LOUISVILLE, KY January 17, 2021 2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time

What helps you to “Come and see” - to seek and learn from Christ? May we have an open heart to hear God’s voice, curiosity to explore this calling,

and strength to respond authentically and faithfully.

SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME JANUARY 17, 2021 ENTRANCE SONG: God Has Chosen Me Bernadette Farrell God has chosen me, God has chosen me to bring good news to the poor. God has chosen me, God has chosen me to bring new sight to those searching for light: God has chosen me, chosen me. And to tell the world that God's kingdom is near, to remove oppression and break down fear. Yes, God's time is near, God's time is near, God's time is near, God's time is near. God is calling me, God is calling me in all whose cry is unheard. God is calling me, God is calling me to raise up the voice with no power or choice: God is calling me, calling me. © 1990, Bernadette Farrell. Published by OCP. All rights reserved. Glory to God (spoken) Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will. We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory. Lord God heavenly King, O God, almighty Father. Lord Jesus Christ, only begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us. For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen. RESPONSORIAL PSALM: Here I Am, Send Me Tim Schoenbachler Here I am, O God, send me. Here I am, O God, send me. Copyright © Pastoral Arts Associates of No.America. All rights reserved. Used with permission.

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION: Alleluia, Raise the Gospel Bernadette Farrell Alleluia! Alleluia! Raise the Gospel over the earth!

Alleluia! Alleluia! Peace and justice bringing to birth! Glory to the Word of Justice. Glory to the Spirit of Peace. Glory to the God of Love whose blessings never cease. Text © 2002, Owen Alstott. Music © 2001, 2002, Bernadette Farrell. Text and music published by OCP. All rights reserved. Reprinted under ONE LICENSE A-702360

PROFESSION OF FAITH: Nicene Creed I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages.

Page 3: JJanuary 17, 2021anuary 17, 2021

God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us (men) and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became [hu]man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen. RESPONSE TO PRAYERS OF PETITION: Help us answer your call, O God. PREPARATION OF GIFTS: We Will Rise Up And Follow Mary Louise Bringle, David Haas From the nets of our labors, through the noise and confusion; from the city or seashore, Jesus summons us all. When we faint and grow weary from the bearing of burdens, with a message of comfort, Jesus summons us all.

We will rise up, rise up and follow, Christ before and beside us, Loving Pattern to guide us, as we answer the call. In the eyes of the stranger – tearful, joyous, or frightened – in the face of each neighbor, Jesus summons us all. When we hear words of hatred spreading fear and false witness, words that cry to be challenged, Jesus summons us all. In each moment of courage, steadfast even through trembling, in the yearning for justice, Jesus summons us all. Like disciples before us, from the city or seashore, risking selves in compassion, Jesus summons us all. Text: Text Copyright © 2006 by GIA Publications, Inc. COMMUNION SONG: Table of Life Steve Angrisano All who thirst, come to the water. All who hunger eat without price. Why spend your wages on what fails to satisfy? Come to the table of life. (table of life) Come to me all who need rest and be satisfied. All who are weary will find that my burden is light. For the bread that I give will not perish but will bring you life. This bread that I break is my flesh, take and eat. This cup now poured out is my blood for a world in need. I lay down my life so you might come and follow me. Dance now with joy before God whose mercy runs free. The mountains will break into song for a mighty king. The trees will clap hands for our God. God is great indeed. © 2004, Steve Angrisano. RECESSIONAL SONG: Here I Am, Lord Dan Schutte, S.J. I, the Lord of sea and sky, I have heard My people cry. All who dwell in dark and sin My hand will save. I who made the stars of night, I will make their darkness bright. Who will bear My light to them? Whom shall I send? Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord? I have heard You calling in the night.

I will go, Lord, if You lead me. I will hold Your people in my heart. I, the Lord of wind and flame, I will tend the poor and lame. I will set a feast for them. My hand will save. Finest bread I will provide till their hearts be satisfied. I will give My life to them. Whom shall I send? Text: Based on Isaiah 6. Text and music © 1981, OCP. All rights reserved. “When Samuel went to sleep in his place, the LORD came and stood there, calling out as before:“‘Samuel, Samuel!’ Samuel answered, ‘Speak, for your servant is listening.’” 1 Samuel 3:9-10

Today we hear Samuel respond eagerly, “Here I am” each time the Lord calls him. A steward must be listening for the call of God in one’s life and be ready to respond like Samuel, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”
