The Site consists of two buildings that are connected. The original Convent, a two-storey building with
a concrete basement which served as the lower occupied level, and a long rectangular 2 Storey Resi-
dential Building built on the west side of the Convent. The buildings formerly served as a Convent, a
Religious Retreat and Lay Education Institution and are comprised of residential wings, several floors,
living facilities, chapel, dining and living areas. The central heating boiler/furnace area is located in
the lower level of the west block. The area of the Buildings is approx. 6,100 sq. ft. on one floor. The
total Gross area is approx. 23,000 sq. ft. The original buildings were built in 1959 and the west wing
was renovated in 1964.
BUiLding constrUction
exterior Walls: Exterior walls of the buildings consist of brick and mortar.
roof: The Buildings have a flat roof with a tar and gravel finish.
Interior Walls: Interior walls are largely wood frame with drywall.
Floor: Flooring is a combination of Linoleum, carpet and terrazzo tile.
Interior ceilings: Ceilings in portions of the main floor and basement consist of mainly acoustic tiles: some painted and non-painted plaster; the main and second floor halls are covered with spray-on ceiling stipple.
lighting: Light fixtures include both fluorescent and incandescent fixtures.
Mechanical: Piping throughout is covered with fiberglass insulation or asbestos wrap.
environmental: AMEC Earth & Environmental prepared an Assessment and Environmental Report in July of 2008. A full copy of the Report is Available for Review at the Archdiocese Office.
