TOUR ITINERARY:

FRI APRIL 5 DAY 1: USA/LIMA

Arrive in Lima early morning. Transfer and check into hotel. Welcome dinner. Casa Andina Private Collection Miraflores (D) SAT APRIL 6 DAY 2: LIMA/CUZCO/SACRED VALLEY

AM flight to Cuzco. Continue to Sacred Valley. Half-day tour of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, one of the most beautiful scenic drives in Peru. Stop by and visit the colorful Pisac Market. Sol y Luna Hotel (B, L, D) DUN APRIL 7 DAY 3: SACRED VALLEY/ MACHU PICHU

Transfer to Oallanta station to board the train to Machu Pichu (about 1 ½ hours). Arrive and transfer to hotel. After check in, visit to the archaeological site of Machu Pichu. The Lost City of the Inca was a remote fortress/sanctuary abandoned by the Inca, reclaimed by the jungle and hidden from view until its rediscovery in 1911. Free morning on the site of Machu Pichu. Afternoon return to Cuzco via train. Stop to visit the impressive Ollantaytambo ruins. Aranwa Cusco Boutique Hotel (B, D)

TUE APRIL 9 DAY 5: CUZCO

Tour of the city of Cuzco and the famous Inca ruins. Explore the most magical city, capital of the Inca Empire (15th century) on a tour including Plaza Regocijo, Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral, Santo Domingo Monastery, the legendary Qurikancha Temple, and the old town with its very narrow streets. Drive out of the city to visit the archaeological Inca remains of Tambomachay or Sacsayhuama, Kenko. Aranwa Cusco Boutique Hotel (B, D) WED APRIL 10 DAY 6: CUZCO

Visit the chapel of San Pedro de Andahuaylillas, considered the Sistine Chapel of America. Spend the rest of the day shopping for arts and crafts in San Blas district. Aranwa Cusco Boutique Hotel (B, D) THU APRIL 11 DAY 7: CUZCO/AMAZON

Arrive noon in Iquitos. Reception at the airport and transfer to the Explorama dock with a brief city tour on the way. Fifty-mile journey down the Amazon to Explorama Lodge in large aluminum speed launches. Afternoon hike along the "Lake Trail" through lowland rainforest which is seasonally flooded or walk along a local trail to visit a local yagua Indian Village where you may purchase or trade for local crafts, see the local sugar cane rum factory and visit our resident American medical doctor in her Rotary Club sponsored river clinic. After dinner, there is a chance to visit the Lodge's "Bar Tahuampa" where local musicians play guitar and flute music our

guides will also be pleased to have you invite them to relate some of the local legends. Explorama Lodge (B, L, D) FRI APRIL 12 DAY 8: CUZCO/ AMAZON

After breakfast, boat ride down the Amazon and up the Napo River to the ExplorNapo Reserve and ExplorNapo Lodge. Afternoon visit to the ReNuPeRu Ethnobotanical Garden located next to ExplorNapo and tended by a local shaman. This garden is used to show visitors rainforest plants used in modern medicine as well as examples of native plant remedies which science may utilize in the future. Evening excursion by open boat along the Sucusari Stream in search of caiman. Enjoy the night sounds and stars of the Southern sky. ExplorNapo Lodge (B, L, D)

SAT APRIL 13 DAY 9: AMAZON

Morning hike to the Canopy Walkway, a suspended bridge spanning 500 meters (one-third of a mile) connected by tree platforms and reaching a height of over 115 feet above the ground. Here you encounter a "bird's eye view" of part of the rainforest rarely seen by man but accessible without any type of climbing skill or equipment. Afternoon boating excursion along one of the many Napo tributaries spotting along the way for birds and sloths. A stop is included for a try at river fishing with cane poles or a chance to swim. SUN APRIL 14 DAY 10: IQUITOS

Morning excursion to a black water oxbow lake formed when water from the Napo River became separated from the main flow of the river. These lakes are often covered with giant Victoria regia water lilies and sometimes offer a glimpse of the elusive Hoatzin bird. Afternoon boat trip back to Iquitos passing the town of Francisco de Orellana, where a statue is erected to the intrepid explorer who became the first European to see the Amazon River in 1542. Explore Lima with a tour of the "City of the Kings". Visit the historical center of Lima including the Plaza Mayor, Lima's Main Square and site of the Presidential Palace. Here also are the City Hall, the Cathedral where Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and Neoclassic styles have all left their mark, and the Archbishop's Palace with carved balconies that are masterpieces. Visit to the beautiful San Francisco Monastery. Drive through the vibrant districts of San Isidro and Miraflores overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Final payment will be due 60 days prior the departure. It is the responsibility of the traveler (or his agent) to determine that final payment reaches the Tour Operator on time. Bookings made within 60 days of departure date, full and final payment will be due immediately upon booking. No booking will be considered until the Tour Operator receives final deposit. Cancellation and Refunds Cancellations must be received by the Tour Operator in writing within 60 days of travel date. Cancellations received more than 60 days prior to departure will have a penalty of $500 per person: those received between 46 and 31 days will have a penalty of 50% per person; those received between 30 and 15 days will have a penalty of 75% per person. Cancellations received 14 days or less before departure or “no shows” will receive no refund. No refund will be made for transfers, city tours or any other services (including meals or accommodations) voluntarily not taken. While Joy Travel welcomes all travelers on our tours, the excursions are fast paced and can be physically demanding. Some Countries do not maintain the same strict standards for disabled access, and as such Joy Travel cannot guarantee accessibility for wheelchairs, walkers, and other special aids at hotels, restaurants, museums and other attractions. Travelers needing assistance might not be able to fully participate in our tours. This is out of our control and we cannot refund the cost for any activity in which travelers are unable to participate.
