In January 2016 the Whistle Stop will celebrate its 40th an- niversary at its Courtenay lo- cation. More immediately, in September 2015 Van Dusen will be celebrating his 12th year as owner of the pub with a month of specials and giveaways. at's one of Van Dusen's ways of thanking his customers for their loyalty over the years. Fre- quent special prices at the estab- lishment's beer and wine store is another. However, Van Dusen is quick to note it's his friendly staff (many who have been there for 10 to 11 years), great service, superb food and friendly atmosphere that contributes so much to the pub's success. Many first-time diners have commented on the large por- tions, and Van Dusen says it's his aim to make sure no one goes home hungry. "You don't want to eat a meal then have to pick up a pizza on the way home," he says. From the warm welcome when you walk in the door to the cold beer pouring out of the taps, the Whistle Stop has earned its rep- utation as a great place to drop by after work, come for a meal, or enjoy live music. I have my staff to thank for that." e Whistle Stop enjoys being a contributing partner in the com- munity. ey host charity fund- raisers, do weekly meat draws, and each year the staff selects a local charity to raise funds for in a September tournament at Sunnydale Golf & Country Club. Our 40th Anniversary is coming in January 2016 and we will be
throwing the biggest celebration of our history!
Barry bought the Whistle Stop Pub in September 2003, so he always
makes sure there are specials happening including our ever
popular wing nights.
Our Wine Tasting Dinner nights are always a big hit! They in-clude 6 wines and a 3 course dinner. The best part? They only cost $25/per person!
Our fi rst of the season is on the saturday closest to Valen-tine's day, we schedule our second around Mother's Day, the following we always have once the kids are back in school (what a great way to celebrate!). Finally our last is in early December, which is a great way to celebrate without breaking your Christmas budget.

Being able to help local charities like the Comox SPCA, Food Bank, Today and Tomorrow Learning Society is something we are most proud of. Last year for “KIA Drive Change Day” Aug 21st 2014 , we were able to raise over $2,000.00 for the Comox Valley Child Development Association and will be looking to do even better for 2015.It’s all about the people in this great valley of ours. Why are we different you may ask? We have two used car inventories to pick from (ours and Island HONDA).
