This is an important fundraising effort for the Club and promises to be a fantastic day. But we need your support. To secure our Club’s booking, we require a high number of members to respond QUICKLY with forms and payment ASAP to Joni Kay (see flyer attached), RSVP date only one week away and is not negotiable! The day will entail a bus trip from the pony club to the Historic World War 1 Stable Complex in South Melbourne, which comprises indoor riding school, drill hall, yards and extensive facilities. We’ll be given a demonstration in the riding school by the magnificent horses, fearless giants (min 16.2 hh) who are highly trained for patrolling, riot control, crowds, missing persons searches etc. They are even trained to walk over the top of people, so don’t get in their way! Loads of fun on the bus and a return trip home by 3pm. Don’t hesitate and miss out. Quickly get your form and paperwork to Joni NOW. Enquiries to Joni or myself. The working bee scheduled for 14 August has also been postponed. Crazy Coloured Jodhpur Day At this rally we are holding a Crazy Coloured Jodhpur Day to raise money for our riders who will compete in the PCAV National Championships in September. Bring a gold coin (or more) for donation, and you can wear some crazy coloured jodhpurs at the rally. You can decorate them as colourfully or wildly as you like—but please remember your safety. If they’re too baggy and unsafe for riding, you’ll need to bring your regular joddies to change into before you ride. The Club will also be financially assisting those riders that compete (as entry, uniforms and Werribee costs total almost $1,000 per rider). News on our Newsletter In an effort to cut costs wherever possible, it has been decided to cease production of the Club’s newsletter. Printing and postage are two of our highest yearly costs, to say nothing of the time involved with production: collating information, scanning, resizing pics, graphic design, folding, labelling etc. So instead, the same information will be put on our website and a monthly email to all members, with a link to the website, will be made as soon as the information is updated. Not only will this save the Club valuable money, it is also more environmentally friendly. Please ensure you complete the form in this newsletter stating your email of choice and hand in to the office at this rally. Victorian Mounted Police

Open Day

URGENT NOTICE: In just over two weeks’ time, our riders and their famil ies have the wonderful opportunity to participate in the Victorian Mounted Police Open Day (only open twice a year to the public).

This is an important fundraising effort for the Club and promises to be a fantastic day. But we need your support.

To secure our Club’s booking, we require a high number of m em b e r s t o r e s p o n d QUICKLY with forms and payment ASAP to Joni Kay (see flyer attached), RSVP date only one week away and is not negotiable!

Don’t hesitate and miss out. Quickly get your form and paperwork to Joni NOW. Enquiries to Joni or myself.

Dressage Day postponed

Many of you already know we have decided to postpone our Dressage Day until early November (date to be approved by PCAV). This is because the grounds are simply too wet. The working bee scheduled for 14 Augu s t h a s a l s o b een postponed.

Crazy Coloured Jodhpur

Day

At this rally we are holding a Crazy Coloured Jodhpur Day to raise money for our riders who will compete in the PCAV

National Championships in September.

News on our Newsletter

Diary

Dates I’m keeping the DC report short this month as we are in the middle of packing up two horses and heading down to Werribee Park. Four nights sleeping in the float, where the temperature will drop to somewhere near FREEZING. Who said horse people are mad? I have already made a promise to self that the next school holidays will be spent

somewhere warm.

With all the rain and mud, now is the time to keep an eye out for dreaded mud fever and also greasy heal. Dry your horse’s legs often with an old towel (not mum’s nice fluffy ones from the bathroom! ) and check for little scabs or if the skin feels greasy to touch— also there can be swelling around the fetlocks. Horses with white socks/pink skin are especially prone to this. There are various treatments you can get from produce or saddlery shops and can be quite affective if detected early. More severe cases may require a medication prescribed by

your vet.

Good luck to Laura Eggleston, Ellie Symes, Maddi McCarty, Maddi Clark and Lucy Tyrrell who will also be heading down to Werribee on our rally day weekend to compete in the PCAV Interzone Horse Trials. Riders are placed in teams of 4 grade 3 or 4 riders from our zone (Northern Metro) to compete against other zones from all over Victoria. Have a great weekend, pack plenty of warm clothes/ rugs and we can’t wait to hear all about it

when you get back.

Keep your eyes out this rally as we should have our new showjump poles out and ready for use (fingers crossed no hiccups with delivery!) Let us know what you think as we w i l l be add in g more showjumping equipment in the future and we would love to know what sort of things (gates, planks, etc.) you’d like

our club to have.

As always take a look at the Rally groups, there has been lots of changes and if you would like to be graded, send

me an email or txt. and I can

allow some time for you.

Welcome to new members starting this rally, we are a friendly bunch so if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask, I know our members will make you feel at ease. Think that’s about all

from me.

Stay safe (and warm), have

fun. Tracey
