The teams competed in five pools of five, playing two games to 25. After pool play, the teams were divid- ed into three brackets: gold, silver and bronze based on how they did in pool play. The top two teams from each pool made it to the gold bracket, the third and fourth place teams in the pool made it to the sil- ver bracket and the bot- tom team in each pool were placed in the bronze. After a long day of vol- leyball, two teams were left standing in the gold bracket for the championship, Team Ellis and Team Hessenthaler. Team Ellis defeat- ed Team Hessenthaler 25- 18 in the first game, then Team Hessenthaler defeat- ed Team Ellis 25-16 to force a game three for bragging rights. Team Hessenthal- er defeated Team Ellis 15-7 in the finale to win the tournament. Members of Team Hes- senthaler were Seth Ow- ens, Carson and Nicole Hes- senthaler, Natalie Collins, Steven and Eliza Stolk and Trevor Stolk. “It was good to get the high school girls involved,” Nicole Hessenthaler said. “It was the best (tournament) that I’ve seen in Lovell with 25 teams. There was real- ly good competition and I thought it was run smooth- ly by coach Stephany Durt- sche. We appreciate all the hard work from the high school volleyball team.” Members of the run- ner-up team, Team El- lis, were Joseph Davidson, Whitney Clark, Austin Ellis, Amanda Clark, Cori Clark, Aaron Clark and Sara Clark. In the silver brack- et, Team Bower lost earli- er in the tournament and came through the consola- tion bracket to defeat Team Durtsche 25-19, 20-25, 15-10 and force a one-game true championship match to 15. Team Durtsche defeated Team Bower 15-11 to win the silver bracket. Members of Team Durt- sche were Steven Durtsche, Kirk Durtsche, Chris Durt- sche, Marci Durtsche, Eric North, Teisha North, Sa- mantha Durtsche and Zack Durtsche. Members of Team Bow- er were Ian Crawford, Brit- tan Bower, Cooper Brown, Ashlynn Bower, Keegan Brown and Nic Talich. In the bronze bracket, Team May defeated Team Owens 15-13, 15-11 to win the bracket. Members of Team May were Abby May, Mia May, Kennedy Johnson, Saman- tha May, Kiana Horsen and Lexi Allen. Members of the run- ner-up team were Kallie Owens, Lily Edwards, Amee Newman, Carter Lund- berg, Jace Grant and Vaidyn Vanderploeg. Coleman and Schultz team wins Mustang Days golf tourney BY SAM SMITH The team of Dusty Schultz and Steve Cole- man took first place in the Mustangs Days Golf Tournament Saturday at Foster Gulch Golf Course. Second place went to the team of Brad and Bill Baxendale. The team of Pete and Morgan Baxen- dale captured third place, and fourth place went to the team of Tim and Rod Winland. Deuces were earned by the Pete and Morgan Baxendale team. Flag prize winners were McKay Baxendale, Scott Asay, West Her- nandez, Bill Watts, Zeke Newman, Kade Nichol- ls, Kirby Winland, Neil Baxendale, Jimmy Gra- ham, Troy Butler, Jayden Thompson, Billy Da- vila, Dave Hayes, Pete Baxendale and Morgan Baxendale. The tournament was sponsored by Midway Construction and Dirt Work, and Lovell Build- ing Center sponsored the Mustang Hole.
