A SHARE IN GOD’S KINGDOM Today concludes a three-week series of Gospel texts in which we have listened to a total of seven parables about the Kingdom. The believer is asked to consider the request that God made of Solomon in today’s first reading: “Ask something of me and I will give it to you” (1 Kings 3:5). Today’s parables about the treasure buried in the field and the pearl of great price should prompt us to answer, “A share in your kingdom, O God!” Today we discover that the kingdom of God is beyond value, a priceless treas-ure. Unfortunately, our culture bombards us with things that it believes are priceless treasures. Having a share in God’s kingdom and helping to bring about that kingdom are the greatest treasures that we can ever hope to gain. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

PRE-BAPTISM CLASS is required for first-time parents. Parents are asked to call Patty Schwerin at 412-563-0858 to register and arrange for a scheduled time for this class.

GODPARENT/SPONSOR REQUIREMENTS—The Catholic Church requirements to be a sponsor and godparent mandate a registered, active parishion-er who is baptized, confirmed and practicing the Catholic faith and is at least 16 years old. To be ac-tive one must attend Mass on a regular basis. When you meet the requirements, you will need a Sponsor Letter to present to the parish where the sacrament will be received. BAPTISM SCHEDULING—At the present time, Baptisms will be scheduled only one child/family at a time as advised by the Diocese. We will be able to accommodate the number of people allotted by the current mandated requirements for capacity for the church where the Baptism is to take place. Social distancing must be observed and face masks are re-quired. Since we have 4 deacons, baptism will now be scheduled on Sundays at the 3 locations—SCS, RES, SPX— after the final Sunday Mass. MARY’S PRAYER GROUP– We are starting a new prayer group that will meet monthly on the 2nd Saturday of the month starting August 8. Meetings will take place at SCS church Hall at 3:00PM and should be finished before the 4:00PM Mass.

PARISH SPIRITUAL OPPORTUNITIES

BIBLE STUDY Fr. Gary will hold 1 more bible study on Tuesday, July 28, from 7:00 to 8:00pm. Meeting is in a new location—now in the St. Pius X gym building. Be advised there are no

tables, just chairs that are socially distant apart. Face masks are required. The topic will be the following Sunday’s readings. Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults at St. Teresa of Kolkata Par-ish: Are you interested in becoming Catholic? Are you a baptized Chris-tian who wants to become Catholic? Are you a baptized Catholic in need of First Communion and/or Confirmation? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, we invite you to participate in a dynamic process called the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA). Our RCIA program offers an opportunity to come together in a small group setting to learn more about our faith. Sessions focus on the teachings and experience of Church and prepare individuals to celebrate the Sacraments of Bap-tism, Confirmation, and Eucharist during the Easter season. You are welcome to participate in the process with your questions, your insights and your faith story in a warm accepting setting. Sessions will begin in September and are usually held at St. Pius X School of St. Teresa of Kolka-ta Parish (Brookline). For information please contact Patty Schwe-rin at 412-563-0858, [email protected], or contact one of our Priests.

TERESA’S TABLE is our meal ministry for the parishioners of Saint Teresa of Kolkata Parish. To provide for our sisters and brothers in need, we will always have nearly 100 complete, nutritious meals and soups in our freezer. Meals are available for de-livery to the homes of those who may be coming home from the hospital, who are grieving the loss of a loved one, who are recovering from an ordeal, who are needing some companionship, or who are just struggling in some way. If you or a parishioner you know needs a little help from our kitchen, contact the Parish Office and leave a message for Patty Schwe-rin, and she will get in touch with our meal team and delivery team. Just reheat and relax, and know that you are loved! SHEPHERD'S HEART -There is a box in the en-trance of the gym (under the table)at St. Pius X where you can donate individually wrapped food items, toiletries, socks, etc. for Shepherd's Heart Homeless Shelter. Monetary and grocery store gift cards are greatly appreciated and may be placed in the offertory basket in an envelope marked "Shepherd's Heart". A MESSAGE FROM ST VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY—In the Gospel, we find that the demand of daily Christian living is to spend our life primarily searching for the kingdom of God. This week, please say a special prayer each day for the poor and forgot-ten in our parish. MEMORIAL MASSES– If you lost a loved one during the pandemic and we limited to 25 or less people for the funeral, you can schedule a Memorial Mass now for up to 25% capacity of the Church. St. Catherine’s holds 750– 25%= 187 Resurrection holds 900– 25% = 225 St. Pius X holds 450– 25% = 112
