Textiles have a long history in automobiles – just like JUMBO. Based on the experience of more than 100 years we develop and produce individual solutions for original equipment manufacturers, system suppliers and their sub-suppliers at home and abroad. They appreciate our personal service just as they do the high quality of our products.

Our company first earned a name for itself as a specialist in functional, reinforcement and joining systems using elastic and non-elastic narrow textiles such as cords, tapes and braids. Today our portfolio is expanded by high-tech applications, often in combination with metal and plastic components.

Nowadays technical textiles from JUMBO are used in seating systems, in the interior of cars and the luggage compartment as well as convertible soft tops. In future they will be able to perform additio-nal demanding tasks, because textile materials are light, flexible and highly functional. Therefore they help automotive manu facturers to save weight, thus reducing the fuel consumption of their vehicles. Moreover, textiles are suitable to dampen noises and increasing driving comfort.

JUMBO is more than a product supplier. We regard ourselves as skilled solution partner, with research and development being of central importance. In close coordination with our customers we develop demanding integrated textile solutions which handle pre-cisely defined functions in passenger cars, lorries, buses, railways and aeroplanes.

Thanks to cooperation arrangements with specialised partners, uni-versities and testing institutes we are up to date. The latest insights of textile high technology are integrated in our development work. New high-tech materials and innovative technologies constantly lead to an expansion of our product range.

We assist our customers in word and deed throughout the course of a project – from the initial idea to the start of series production. We make sure that our products can be integrated into production processes without any difficulty.

Aiming at quality and sustainability

Quality is absolutely imperative for JUMBO. All business processes are integrated into quality assurance systems which are certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2008 and ISO / TS 16949:2009. The quality of our products and services is thus documented and archived during every phase – from submitting a quote through to shipment.

We meet the strict requirements of the automotive industry. These include compliance with our customers’ specifications, industry standards and legal requirements, providing product data (factory certifications, inspection certificates, datasheets, safety datasheets), proof of production and product releases (PPF, PPAP) as well as the provision of the results of lab tests of physical properties and chemical composition (IMDS). In addition, JUMBO tests the tensile strength of its products under a variety of climatic conditions as well as their durability.

Thanks to our modern machinery we are able to manufacture quickly and reliably. Having our own mechanical engineering department makes us independent and ensures the high availability of our diverse product portfolio.

Our efficient manufacturing methods are geared towards sustainability. This has been rewarded with the certification according to the envi-ronmental management standard DIN EN ISO 14001. All raw materials we use meet the environmental guidelines of the European Union. On request we manufacture according to the Oeko-Tex 100 standard.

Intelligent storage systems for luggage

We develop narrow textile components for intelligent storage systems in luggage compartments, for instance extensive ancho-rage systems and end fitting with plastic and metal parts. A good example of an innovative fastening system is our tightening strap. The materials can be bonded through sewing, pressing, hooking, welding and injection moulding.

Safety and comfort for seating systems

In seats and seating systems, solutions from JUMBO contribute to people being able to sit down comfortably and safely in their vehicles.

One of our areas of expertise is the segment of fastening and retaining straps or braids, e.g. for tightening and positioning seat covers.

In addition, we manufacture various release straps with and without special function.The seat release strap, e.g., may be a combination of elastic braid and non-elastic belt strap that limits the extension of the loop. This combination ensures that the loop is visible only when it is pulled out to release the seat.

Moreover, we constantly develop new, individually tailored functional and fastening systems. Here, our expertise in combining narrow textiles with plastic or metal parts comes into play, for instance in the adjustment of seat depth: an elastic cord works much like a spring. It is integrated into the structure of the seat on one side and attached to the other, supporting side of the seat. On the ends are hooks and rings.
