Agriculture Committee: The Ag Committee has selected the menu for the NDSU Field Day lunch as well as the 4-H Picnic. They are continuing to plan for the 2013 WRLS. Ambassadors /Membership Committee: The committee has been very busy with ribbon cuttings in the area. The 2013 Chamber Golf Fun Day will be held on July 19, 2013. Registration & sponsorship forms are available. Leadership Dickinson Committee: They have begun planning for 2013/2014 program. Promotions Committee: The committee has begun planning their float for the parade. The 2013 Holiday Craft Show will be held at the Astoria on December 7th from 9am to 4pm. Registration opened April 1st, 2013, spots are filling up fast. Business After Hours The next BAH is June 4th hosted by MKK Consulting Engineers, Inc. Government Affairs Committee: The Governmental Affairs Committee next meeting will be August 22nd, 2013.

Dickinson Charities was established in 1984 with the mission of supporting education in the community and surround-

ing area. They are long-term members of the Dickinson Chamber of Commerce and are located in north Dickinson on

21st Street East. Presently, Dickinson Charities employs 25 people who offer the public a variety of recreational activi-

ties that bring in earnings that support education and numerous civic organizations. Since its beginning Charities has

contributed to all levels of education. First, at the college level Charities supports Dickinson State University Blue

Hawk boosters, Business Challenge and Dollars for Scholars with annual monies. Secondly, as a private education sup-

porter each year the Dickinson Catholic school system receives assistance from Charities staff during the three day

event of Mardi Gras and additional funds are given to support Trinity High School boosters. Area public schools have

received generous annual support from Dickinson Charities with contributions for after prom and graduation parties.

Finally, Dickinson Charities have always made children a primary focus of their giving with tickets to the Shrine Circus

and National Fire Safety Council color books distributed in local schools. Dickinson Charities is proud supporting

member of the community.

Dr. Corinne Brevik is an Associate Professor of Physics for the Department of Natural Sciences at Dickinson State Uni-

versity. She came to DSU in 2004 and has provided instruction for college students as well as many local

teachers attending K-8 Science Institutes. She oversees community events like Stars over the Prairie at the

Prairie Hills Mall, hands-on electricity activities at Berg Elementary, and the Monster Mash event for Girl

Scouts. Dr. Brevik assists with the annual Science Olympiad held at DSU and is highly regarded for her

ability to assist others in understanding science concepts. Her most recent project is the management of

DSU’s new Discovery Dome, an inflatable planetarium that has visited over 30 schools throughout southwest North

Dakota in the last 4 months. Teacher Education students at DSU have often stated in their portfolios that her Physical

Science class “was one of the most worthwhile classes I have had in my years at Dickinson State University because we

were challenged to think in new ways while learning basic physics, chemistry, earth science, and astronomy.” Thus

confirming her honored place as DSU’s Educator of the Year!

Mrs. Sandra Schobinger has been serving as an elementary teacher for the past twenty years. For the first three years of her teaching career, she taught third and fourth grade in Mile City, Montana. After her time in Mile City, she began her tenure with the Dickinson Public School System. In Dickinson she taught kindergarten for two years and has been teaching sixth grade for the balance of her time. Schobinger is a native of Halliday, ND and a graduate of Halliday High School. After high school she completed her elementary education degree at Dickinson State University. She currently teaches at P. S. Berg Elementary. In addition to her classroom teaching duties, she serves on the P. S. Berg Leadership Committee as well as the district leadership commit-

tee. Mrs. Schobinger is a dedicated professional that is committed to continuous improvement.

Mr. Jeff Dasovick is completing his 9th year as the music instructor at Trinity High School for grades 7-12, and he has

spent his entire teaching career at THS. Dasovick is a Bismarck native and a graduate of St. Mary’s Central

High school. From there, he completed his undergraduate degree in Music Education and Music Perform-

ance from the University of Mary and his master’s degree in Piano Pedagogy and Performance from the Uni-

versity of North Dakota. He teaches junior high and senior high band and choir at Trinity. In addition, he

leads the THS Jazz Ensemble, Vocal Jazz, and Drumline groups. Students audition to join these groups and

they perform throughout the community and the region on a regular basis. Mr. Dasovick also introduced the Pops

Concert as the final performance of the year, where our students entertain the audience with their version of familiar

pop music. Mr. Dasovick and his students have earned numerous awards in his time at Trinity. There are two that

deserve special recognition. In 2011 the THS Concert Band was selected to perform at the North Dakota Music Educa-

tor's Convention. That same year he also received the North Dakota National Band Association Allegro Award for out-

standing progress in the development of bands in the state of North Dakota.

American Bank Center Announcements

American Bank Center has the following announcements.

Brandee Sayler has been named Loan Serving Assistant at the downtown Dickinson location. Brandee earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a minor in Human Resource Man-agement from Dickinson State University. Brandee most recently worked with MBI Energy Service.

Scott Tschetter has been named Business Banking Supervisor for the Dickinson Market. Scott joined American Bank Center as a Business Banker in 2006 and is a graduate of Dickinson State University with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration. Scott has attended the Minnesota Bankers Association Commercial Lending School, NDBA School of Lending Principals, and is currently enrolled at the Graduate School of Banking in Madison.

Brady Boese has been named as a Credit Analyst at the Downtown Dickinson location. Brady is a graduate of Dickinson State University where he obtained his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an em-phasis in Management. Brady joined American in June of 2010 as a Personal Banker.

Laurie Hauck has been named as part-time Teller at the downtown Dickinson location. Laurie brings prior customer service experience with her to American.

Mary Henson has been named a Personal Banker at the downtown Dickinson location. Mary joined American in March of 2013 as a full-time Teller. Mary has prior customer service and retail experience.

Lawyer Ashley Summers started practicing law with Paul Ebeltoft, Randall Sickler, Jennifer Grosz, Nathan Bouray, Courtney Olson, Bekki Grant, Nicholas Grant and Haylee Cripe on April 1, 2013. At Ebeltoft . Sickler . Lawyers, Ashley will be practicing with the Business Solutions and Personal Planning Practice Teams. Ashley graduated with distinction from the University of North Dakota School of Law, in Grand Forks, North Dakota in 2012. She completed her undergraduate education at the University of Winnipeg in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and graduated with honors from the University of Winnipeg with a Bachelor’s degree in Arts with a major in Sociology. Dur-ing her undergraduate studies Ashley was active in fundraising for Breast Cancer research including participation in the Winnipeg Run for the Cure. Ashley is excited to become involved in the close knit community of Dickinson and is a member of the Dickinson Young Professionals organization. During her spare time, Ashley enjoys scuba diving, travelling and learning to golf. Ebeltoft . Sickler . Lawyers also recently added Randi Ortner to their receptionist and legal assistant staff. Randi comes to the firm from Colorado where she previously worked as a certified coder and billing specialist for three years and as an office manager and legal assistant for a small law firm.

Randi enjoys reading, crafts, playing golf and hiking in her spare time. She plans to continue her education to become a certified Legal Secretary or Paralegal in the future.

KLJ, a multi-disciplinary engineering and planning firm, is proud to announce that the company has been recognized as one of the nation’s Top 500 Design Firms by Engineering News Record (ENR). “This is an outstanding achievement for KLJ and evidence that we are positioned well strategically and have a great team who will continue to lead us to future successes,” said Chief Executive Officer Niles Hushka.

The Top 500 Design Firms list, published annually in April, ranks the 500 largest U.S. based designs firms, both publicly and privately held, based on design-specific revenue. Companies engaged in general contracting specialty contracting, engineering, architecture, planning and studies are ranked through an annual survey. The rankings are then divided into specific market categories

KLJ was ranked 16th in the nation for telecommunications, as the 76th largest designer in the United States and as the 110th largest firm in the United States. The rankings established KLJ as the highest ranked firm that originated in the region.

KLJ Nationally Recognized on Top 500 Design Firms List

KLJ, a multi-disciplinary engineering and planning firm, hired Josh Hengel in the Dickinson office.

Josh is an engineer with the municipal group. He earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from North Dakota

State University. Josh has experience in construction observation, lab testing and general land development. His princi-

pal areas of focus will include water, sewer and road design.

LARSON JOINS HOUSTON ENGINEERING, INC.

Ed Larson has joined Houston Engineering, Inc. (HEI) as a Civil Engineer in their Dickinson office. Larson is originally from Lambert, MT, and graduated from Montana State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. He previously worked at the Montana Department of Transportation specializing in road

design. He also has many years of experience with subdivisions, county roads, trails, bridge support systems and building foundations. Houston Engineering provides engineering, surveying and environmental consulting services. Established in Fargo in 1968, the company also has offices in Bismarck, Dickinson and Minot, ND, as well as Barnesville, Maple Grove and Thief River Falls, MN.

A Signing of the Steel event, hosted by Sanford Health and Mortenson Construction, took place Wednesday, May 15 in Dickinson at the site of the new clinic. Physicians and employees from Sanford and Mortenson signed the final beam of the new structure, commemorating the completion of Sanford Health’s new clinic in Dickinson. After the signing, onlookers watched as a large crane placed the final beam on the new structure – a milestone in the construction process.

“Completion of the steel structure is very exciting,” said Trina Schilling, vice president of clinics and director of clinic nursing at Sanford Bismarck. “It shows that we are one step closer to offering expanded services and better health care than ever before in this region. It’s definitely worth celebrating.”

The signatures of the attendees will forever be a part of the new clinic, which is scheduled to open in the summer of 2014.

Severson has over 7 years of experience and previously worked at Microsoft as a Senior Support Engineer. He holds an MBA and Masters in Project Management from University of Mary and bachelor degrees in Management Information Sys-

tems and Business Administration from NDSU.

DFC has hired a technical consultant

AE2S (Advanced Engineering and Environmental Services, Inc.) has hired Bob Nasset, PE as a Project Engineer in the firm’s Dickinson, ND office. He will be part of AE2S’ Municipal Ser-vices Group and will be responsible for assisting on the Roers West Ridge development in Dickinson and sup-porting municipal services in Killdeer, ND.

Nasset brings more than eight years of experience in structural, grading, and drainage design for energy infra-structure projects, including transmission lines, access roads, power generation facilities, and substations.

Nasset brings a diverse background from other domestic and international work within the energy industry. Prior to joining AE2S, he worked at Black & Veatch as a Senior Civil Engineer. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Texas and Colorado, and is in the process of obtaining his PE license in North Dakota. Nasset was most recently involved in the development, design, and construction of more than 300 miles of 345 kV transmission infrastructure in western Texas.

Originally from Bowman, ND, Nasset holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND.
