Thank you for journeying with me as an Augustinian. It has been a wonderful year where I experienced a joyful and vibrant Parish community. You have provided me with great affirmation in my vocation of religious life – and been patient as I learned
and have made the final preparations for priesthood.
I was assigned to St. Turibius for a pastoral internship as a “transitional” Deacon. Deacons are ordained to serve the needs of the Church and preach the Word of
God. We preach at Mass and preside at sacraments such as Baptisms, Weddings, and Funerals. A transitional Deacon is typically in the last year of formation and on the path to priesthood. This spring was my last semester of seminary and I am sure
happy to graduate! I have loved my time journeying through these rites with your families. I have also enjoyed the RCIA group and spending time with the Religious Education students and the Parish Youth Group. The Church allows married men
to be permanent deacons, and I have been blessed to learn from Deacon Tom and Deacon Javier.
My ordination to the priesthood was originally scheduled in April. However, the COVID restrictions on public gatherings required that it be postponed. My priesthood ordination has been rescheduled for July 25th. Due to ongoing
limitations, the ceremony will only be available on livestream. I hope to return for a Mass of Thanksgiving to St. Turibius in the Fall when we can celebrate together.
My first assignment as a priest will be to St. Rita of Cascia High School. I am excited to begin this new ministry! Please pray for me as I continue to pray with
all of you.
Deacon Jack Tierney OSA
I would like to ask all of us to pray for Deacon Jack Tierney, OSA. Deacon Jack has been with us this past year as part of his preparation to be ordained to the priesthood. He has been a great help to our parish. He dedicated himself to preaching, giving talks with the youth group, helping with theRCIA program and various other things.
We have begun having public masses again. We are following strict guidelines from the Archdiocese. In order to attend mass, everyone is asked to register. You can do this through our web page turibius.org and then click on the tab titled Sign up: Mass/Services.

Querida comunidad de San Turibio,
Gracias por viajar conmigo como agustino. Ha sido un año maravilloso donde experimenté una comunidad parroquial alegre y vibrante. Me ha brindado una gran afirmación en mi vocación de vida religiosa, y, según
me enteré, he hecho los preparativos finales para el sacerdocio.
Fui asignado a San Turibio para una pasantía pastoral como diácono "de transición". Los diáconos están or-denados para servir las necesidades de la Iglesia y predicar la Palabra de Dios. Predicamos en misa y presidi-mos sacramentos como bautismos, bodas y funerales. Un diácono de transición está típicamente en el último año de formación y en el camino hacia el sacerdocio. Esta primavera fue mi último semestre de seminario y estoy feliz de graduarme. Me encantó mi tiempo viajando a través de estos ritos con sus familias. También
disfruté del grupo RICA y pasé tiempo con los estudiantes de educación religiosa y el grupo juvenil de la pa-rroquia. La Iglesia permite que los hombres casados sean diáconos permanentes, y he tenido la bendición de
aprender de Diácono Tom y Diácono Javier.
Mi ordenación al sacerdocio se programó originalmente en abril. Sin embargo, las restricciones COVID en las reuniones públicas requieren que se posponga. Mi ordenación del sacerdocio ha sido reprogramada para el

Droga wspólnoto św. Turybiusza
Dziękuję za towarzyszenie mi jako bratu augustianinowi. To był wspaniały rok, w którym doświadczyłem radosnej i tętniącej życiem wspólnoty parafialnej. Daliscie mi wielką afirmację w moim powołaniu do życia
zakonnego - i okazaliście mi cierpliwość podczas tego ostatniego przygotowanie do kapłaństwa.
Zostałem przydzielony do parafii św. Turybiusza na staż duszpasterski jako „przejściowy” diakon. Diakoni są wyświęceni, aby służyć potrzebom Kościoła i głosić Słowo Boże. Głosimy kazania na Mszy św., udzielamy
sakramentów, takiech jak chrzty, wesela i pogrzeby. Przejściowy diakon jest zazwyczaj w ostatnim roku formacji na drodze do kapłaństwa. Ta wiosna była moim ostatnim semestrem seminarium i z pewnością jestem
szczęśliwy, że mogłem go ukończyć! Uwielbiam spędzać czas podróżując przez te obrzędy z waszymi rodzinami. Podobała mi się również grupa RCIA i spędzałam czas ze studentami Edukacji Religijnej i
Parafialną Grupą Młodzieżową. Kościół pozwala żonatym mężczyznom być stałymi diakonami, i ja miałem to szczęście uczyć się od diakona Tom i diakona Javier.
Moje święcenia kapłańskie zostały pierwotnie zaplanowane na kwiecień. Jednak ograniczenia związane z COVID dotyczące zgromadzeń publicznych wymagały ich odroczenia. Moje święcenia kapłańskie zostały
przełożone na 25 lipca. Ze względu na ciągłe ograniczenia ceremonia będzie dostępna tylko na żywej transmisji. Mam nadzieję, że wrócę na Mszę Dziękczynienia do parafii św. Turybiusza jesienią, kiedy będziemy
mogli wspólnie celebrować.
Moje pierwsza praca apostolska jako kapłana będzie w liceum św. Rity z Cascia. Cieszę się bardzo na myśl o tej nowej posłudze! Proszę, módlcie się za mnie, gdy ja także nadal modlę się z wami wszystkimi.

Domestic Violence Experience and data teach us that financial crises, home
confinement and prolonged stress exacerbate the frequency and intensity of domestic violence. It is no
surprise that the Covid-19 pandemic has made life more dangerous for many already at risk in our country. The
Illinois Domestic Violence Hotline reports that calls for help have increased 50% in March, from 60 to 90 a day. Some
victims were about to leave their abuser, but now he is home all the time, and they have less opportunity to free themselves. Some are in counseling, and now in-person
services are unavailable. Some abusers are more angry by loss of work or home quarantine and thus more threatening
to their partners. If you know or suspect someone is a victim, please check on them! If they are in immediate
need, help them call 911, the National DV Hotline: 800-799-7233, the Illinois Domestic Violence Hotline:
877-863-6338,or another reputable DV resource to help them connect with support and services.

In these uncertain times brought about by the pandemic you are probably surprised that we are
already thinking about Religious Education classes for 2020-2021. However, because we are persons of
faith, we believe that we will have classes even if initially they are online. Classes in the fall will not
begin until October because by then we hopefully will be able to have the Confirmation and First
Communion that were originally scheduled for May of 2020. You will need to be patient as we continue to receive further direction from the Archdiocese and from our Governor too. But whether it is online or in
person we do not want your children to not be enrolled in classes for next year.
This year we are doing our registration online. If your child was scheduled to receive a Sacrament in May, you do not have to register them again. This is only for new students and for those students who will
be returning for a second year. It will be imperative that you include an email address so that we can remain in contact with you for updates and possible assignments beginning in the fall when
classes begin. Arrangements for payments are also found on the form.
Thank you for your cooperation with this matter – we look forward to being part of your child’s
Religious Education.
Let us continue to storm heaven as king the intercession of Our Lady for an end to
