St. Turibius Parish is selling fleece jackets, polo shirts, t-shirts and hoodies with our new Parish Logo. Order forms and samples are in the back of church on display. Please complete an order

form and either drop it in the collection basket or return to the rectory.

What a wonderful way to show your “St. Turibius Pride” as our Parish Familycelebrates our “90th Anniversary” this year.

We are planning to replace the Church rug and have major work done on our Church organ. This fundraiser hopefully will defray some of the cost.

Thank you for your continuous support!

From the Pastor’s Desk Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

We are just about five weeks away from our Parish 90th Anniversary. I want to invite as many as possible to be with us for this celebration. Our festivities will be centered on not only giving thanks to God for our 90 years of parish

life but also to continue to live out our Parish Mission.

We share Christ’s light and our faith is deepened as we celebrate the diversity of our Parish.

Our celebration begins with Mass on Saturday, November 11th with a tri-lingual Mass at 4:00 p.m. I am encouraging you to be part of this

Eucharistic Celebration.

Our Annual Attitude of Gratitude Dinner Dance will follow this EucharisticCelebration. The Dinner Dance will be held at the Mayfield Banquet Hall on

Archer Ave. The tickets cost $50.00 per person. This price includes all drink, food and dancing. You can purchase tickets at the parish office and also

after each of the Sunday Masses.

It is at the Dinner Dance that we will draw the winner for the parish raffle. Winners need not be present. There will also be baskets to win.

As you are reading this, you should have noticed that the carpet of our Church has been replaced. This has been one of the projects that our Parish Church has needed. I had called four different business to get

estimates. The finance committee and I chose Key Carpets as the company to install the carpet. The total cost of the carpeting is $26,500.00. Donations to help us cover the cost of this project can be brought to the parish office or

placed into the Sunday Collections. If you place your donation into the collection basket, please make sure you have noted that this is designated

for the carpeting of the church.

Again, plan on being a part of our Parish 90th Anniversary. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Zachęcam was do uczestniczenia w tej uroczystości

eucharystycznej.

Cena obejmuje wszystkie napoje,

jedzenie i tańce.

Tam też będą kosze do wygrania.

Zadzwoniłem do czterech różnych firm, aby uzyskać

oszacunki. Komisja finansów i ja wybraliśmy firmę Key Carpets jako firmę do zainstalowania dywanu. Całkowity koszt dywanu wynosi $26,500. Darowizny,

Ponownie, zaplanujcie uczestniczyć w 90. rocznicy naszej Parafii. Czekamy tam na Ciebie!

September’s Expenses

Thought for the Day This 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud lady, who is fully dressed each morning by eight

o’clock, with her hair fashionably coiffed and makeup perfectly applied, even though she is legally blind, moved to a nursing home yesterday. Her husband of 70 years recently passed away, making

the move necessary.

After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, she smiled sweetly when told her room was ready. As she maneuvered her walker to the elevator, I provided a visual des-

cription of her tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on her window. “I love it,” she stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy.

“Mrs. Jones, you haven’t seen the room …. just wait.”

“That doesn’t have anything to do with it,” she replied. “Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like my room or not doesn’t depend on how the furniture is arranged, it’s how I arrange my mind. I already decided to love it. It’s a decision I make every morning when I

wake up. I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do. Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open I’ll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I’ve

stored away, just for this time in my life.”

She went on to explain, “Old age is like a bank account, you withdraw from what you’ve put in. So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot of happiness in the bank account of memories Thank

you for your part in filling my Memory bank. I am still depositing.”

And with a smile, she said: “Remember the five simple rules to be happy:1. Free your heart from hatred.2. Free your mind from worries.

3. Live simply.4. Give more.

5. Expect less, & enjoy every moment.

Parish Mission Statement

We Believe that God is Love, and when we live in love we live in God and God lives in

us! Therefore we, the Parish Family of Saint Turibius, dedicate ourselves to living out

Christ’s Great Commandment: we will love the Lord our God with all our heart, with all our soul, with all our mind, and with all our strength, and we will show our love for God

by the way we love and care for one another. To this end, we will respond to our baptismal

call, strengthened by the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and empowered by

the Holy Spirit. As a Family of Faith that has an Attitude of Gratitude for the gifts God has given to us, we will share our time, our talent

and our treasure with each other. We welcome into our parish family all people, because we

believe that together we are the Body of Christ and together we can bring the love, peace,

forgiveness, healing, and joy of Christ into our community in ways we never could have if we were to remain apart. May all who meet us, who worship with us, who work and play with

us, know we are Christians by our love!
