Dear Parishioners,

The Legion of Mary Chapter from St.

Philip the Apostle Parish has asked me to share the

following prayers with you in honor of our

Church’s Priests.

A PRAYER FOR PRIESTS

Keep them, I pray thee, dearest Lord,

keep them, for they are Thine.

Thy priests whose lives burn out before

Thy consecrated shrine.

Keep them, for they are in the world,

though from the world apart;

When earthly pleasures tempt, allure,

shelter them in Thy heart.

Keep them, and comfort them in hours

of loneliness and pain,

when all their life of sacrifice

for souls seems but in vain.

Keep them, and O remember, Lord,

they have no one but Thee,

yet they have only human hearts,

with human frailty.

Keep them as spotless as the Host,

that daily they caress;

their every thought and word and deed,

design, dearest Lord, to bless.

D. Cardinal Dougherty

THOU ART A PRIEST FOREVER

“To live in the midst of the world wishing its

pleasures; to be a member of each family, yet

belonging to none; to share all sufferings; to

penetrate all secrets; to heal all wounds; to go from

men to God and offer Him their prayers; to return

from God to men to bring pardon and hope; to

have a heart of fire for charity and a heart of

bronze for chastity; to teach and to pardon, console

and bless always, My God, what a life! And it’s

yours, O Priest of Jesus Christ!” Lacordeire

Mary, Queen of the Clergy, pray for them.

Peace, Fr. Jim

P.S. Congratulations to Javier

Rivera Pagan, Jr., who was

confirmed by Bishop Richard

Malone on Pentecost Sunday.

Monday, June 4th—Parish Council at 6:30pm.
