A Musical Feast from the
Loveden Quartet
and the Hougham Players
Concert goers to St. Vincent’s Church,
Caythorpe on Saturday 16th May were
greeted with the music from the
Hougham Players whilst they found
their seats. This local group of
instrumentalists played a number of
pieces including Pachelbel Canon,
Handel’s Water Music, and the Minuet and Trio by Boccherini and set a most
enjoyable atmosphere for the evening.
The Loveden Quartet, singing acapella, then gave us a wonderful mixture of music
from the 16th to 21st century with subtle harmonies. From William Byrd and Palestrina
through to George Gershwin and several pieces arranged by Nick Thorpe who sings
Tenor in the quartet.
Elspeth Fraser-Darling and David Taylor sang a touching duet ‘I carry your heart with
me’ especially composed for them by Michael Derry. The soprano, Susie Mathieson,
effortlessly reached notes that some
of us would love to! Vicky Thorpe
played some lovely flute music by
Handel and Chopin.
A big thank you goes to The Loveden
Quartet, Vicky Thorpe and the
Hougham Players. We really had a
musical feast, which was then
followed by a delicious buffet
kindly provided by the PCC. It was a great evening. The proceeds are going towards
putting in a disabled access at St. Vincent’s. Caythorpe PCC

Mid Uk Want Vehicular Access on Sundays
and Bank Holidays
Almost sixty residents of Carlton Scroop and
Normanton attended a recent Parish Council meeting
to consider the threat of more commercial vehicle
intrusion through the villages as a result of Mid UK’s
application for full 7 day week / 365 days per year
vehicle access to their Caythorpe plant. Such a move will mean lorries thundering up
and down the A607 through the narrow village highways on every day of every
week.
The meeting was attended by Councillors from Carlton Scroop, Caythorpe and Fulbeck
Parishes and from both SKDC and Lincs County
Council. Around 20 members of the audience
expressed their personal views; every one of which was
against the proposed increases in traffic.
One of the principal concerns of residents was how best
to frame objections and after extensive discussion it was
agreed that a small working party of Councillors and
residents would be formed to put together a strong
objection and prepare material for presentation at the
LCC Planning Committee meeting expected on June 8th.
Parish Councillor Mike Robinson’s on-line ‘Newswire’ is updating regularly this and
other local issues. If you would like to receive this information send an email to

Ramblings of the Old Rector
Four weeks ago my wife noticed a smudge on a window of our Garden Room.
“Nothing to do with me,” I cried, getting my defence in first. Then she found the
stone-cold form of a blue tit on the ground beneath the said window, its wings
outstretched in surrender; it was quite dead. Today, as every day since, her mate
visits the nesting box in our garden to see if she has returned home. I feel I should
offer counselling, or, at least, a Requiem. Meanwhile, a blackbird, who shares our
garden, sings a merry tune on the gable of our garden shed. It is an attractive tune,
and I offer the notion that composers crib their best tunes from garden birds.
A friend, who is a Professor of Micro-biology, has asked me to review his latest
book: a biography [1]. His subject is a mutual friend who is a retired Professor of
Social History and as well as being a polymath is a national figure; an educationalist,
and among other achievements is a founder of the University of the Third Age. I
protested that there must be more qualified reviewers, but in vain. The publisher has
now sent me a review copy of the book, and I find that it is a well-researched and
well-documented account of our mutual friend’s busy life. At my time of life one
cannot afford to lose friends, so I read it assiduously and made copious notes. I
enjoyed reading it and I offered a candid review, and both author and subject seem
to be pleased with my effort. We are to lunch together in London, then I will know.
Meanwhile, despite a vow I made in 1967 never again to travel on a Bank Holiday,
we went to London on Bank Holiday Sunday to take part in a Coastal Command
service of remembrance at Westminster Abbey. I caught the 9.35 train from
Grantham, but it parked in St Neots’ station for over an hour (thank you Network
Rail). I was among a group of football supporters on their way to Stamford Bridge to
watch Chelsea, so we had a jolly party, despite my clerical collar! After a mad dash
in a cab from Kings Cross, I arrived at the Abbey with five minutes to spare.
Happily, Canon Jane Sinclair, fresh from the Archdeaconry of Stow, and with whom
I was sharing the service, was delayed by the earlier service, so all was well. I must
write my vow in large letters above the door.
I retired as Rector of this benefice in 2003. Mary Siddans gave us a Rambling
Rector rose, which we planted against the trellis that hides the lower part of our small
garden. It has been prolific over the years, covering the entire trellis with tresses of
long-flowering blooms. Last year we decided to cut it right back, giving us the
opportunity to renew the broken trellis at the same time. Already the new growth has
spread evenly along the trellis, with a promise of splendour ahead.
I have never seen the Flowering Cherry tree in our front garden so laden with
blossom. T S Eliot wrote, “April is the cruellest month”; well, not this year Sonny
Jim.

It hardly seems possible but we are almost half
way through our 2015 programme and the May
meeting concentrated on the resolution that our
Treasurer, Pauline Dorey will take with her to
Conference.
In previous years there
are several options on the
table but this year only
one subject: Failure to
Care – an assessment of
the needs of people
seeking long term care. This is an emotive
subject and many opinions were expressed
because everyone at the meeting either had
personal knowledge of someone in our
community who needed the care of others.
Of course, this immediately highlighted the
overall cost of helping and supporting someone
else, and as the population ages so the needs
also increase, and this brings it back to who is
to pay for long term care? It soon became
apparent that the WI, although most people
seem to think we are just a talking shop, are
the voice of local communities and without our
input much of government legislation would be
misdirected and today our voices are a valuable
part of government assessment as to needs of
the elderly and infirm. It was left to Pauline
Dorey, to use a block vote so that Conference
took our wishes into consideration.
On a lighter side Andrew Geeson a caricature
artist, gave us a demonstration into the art –
because it is an art – on how to make someone
look dazzlingly beautiful, or a plain Jane. The
result of this highly entertaining art form is on
show in our WI notice board in the Village Hall
and, please note that we are all very beautiful
members of Caythorpe & District WI.

Great season for Caythorpe Sports and Social Football Club
Well the end of the season is upon us, with just one game left I thought I would give a
brief summary of how the season has gone for us.
Pre-season training started well with plenty of players and new additions to the
management structure. After 4 seasons at Caythorpe, joint manager Ian Batchelor aka
‘Mr Patch’ decided to hang up his boots to spend more time with family
and concentrate on training for swimming and running events he was
entering, his help with running the team has been much appreciated by
myself and I thought he would be missed on the touchline, but he
couldn’t keep away and has supported us at several home games this
season. Garon Harrison stepped up from his playing role in the team to
help run the team and Brian Potts gained promotion from loyal supporter
to Assistant Manager.
Off the pitch Caythorpe Sports & Social Club gave us their usual great
support and sponsorship, we would like to thank all
on the committee for their continued support. Ian
Batchelor and Son Landscapes also gave us a very generous donation
towards team wear and training equipment and Harrison Murray
Estate Agent became our fantastic new kit sponsor. We would like to
thank all our sponsors who without which our club would struggle to
keep going so we are very grateful for their support.
The season started on the pitch in great style, playing our games in The
Arion Grantham & District Sunday League Division 1. We knocked
three Grantham premier league teams out of two cup competitions, beating last year’s
premier league winners Lions FC 6-3 and last year’s premier league runners up
Osbournby Rangers 6-0 in the Charity Shield and in the Knock Out Sup we beat Witham
Wanderers, this year’s Premier league runners up, 3-2. In league games we found
ourselves top early on in the season but after a few injuries and tough games we dropped
to second place behind eventual winners Nobody Inn Reserves. Caythorpe finished
the season in second place with our stats in the league as follows:
Played 18, Won 13, Drawn 2, Lost 3, Goal For 72, Goals Against 20, Points 41.
This sees Caythorpe promoted to the Premier league for next season after finishing
bottom just two seasons ago; this is a massive achievement for all the players and for the
management. We can also boast the league’s top goal scorer in all competitions Tom
‘Figgy’ Figura with 39 goals and the best defensive record in the league with only
twenty goals conceded.
Our final game was the Benny O’Meara Knock-out Cup Final against newly-crowned
Premier League Champions Ropsley. At first it was very even with Caythorpe pressing
hard but ultimately, we lost 5-0. Ropsley ran out deserved winners. This was our first
final since forming eight years ago. It will not be the last.

Making a difference
The story is told of a young man walking along the beach
who sees a great many starfish which had washed ashore.
Walking further down the beach he noticed an old man
walking slowing and stooping down every so often and
picking up and gently throwing each one into the ocean.
“Why are you throwing the starfish into the ocean?” asks
the young man
“Because the sun is up and the tide is going out and if I
don’t throw them further in they will die,” replied the old man.
The young man pointed out that there was miles and miles of beach with lots of starfish
along it and said “you can’t possibly save them all, not even a fraction of them.”
The old man listened calmly to the young man and then bent down, picked up another
starfish and threw it into the sea and said “It made a difference to that one!”
Making a difference is something I think we all want to do, even in the smallest of
ways. For followers of Jesus it is a priority- something we do with the Holy Spirit as our
helper.

UK Premiere of Gaelic
Concert at Leadenham
The Marianus Scottus Ensemble are in
concert in St Swithun’s Church at 6.30pm on
Friday 31st May during Leadenham’s second
Arts Festival.
The Ensemble, from Erfurt and Halle in
Germany, will be performing a concert of
Gaelic music with narration in English, the
UK Premiere of this prestigious new work.
The music in the Marianus Scottus Project
honours the work of the monks in the
medieval period, especially the Irish monks
and those from the Western Isles of Scotland.
In an age where war and pestilence riddled
the social structures throughout Europe, there
were only a few on the side of the bullied,
defenseless and suffering people.
The Hiberno-Scottish mission had reached its
zenith in the 12th century. Within three
centuries all the kings of Europe were now
Christians, and monks were now the relief
between the monarch’s absolute rule and the
people, sharing with them their knowledge of
natural healing and herbal food-growing.
The musical voyage begins with the death of
the great Irish Christian king Brian Boru
when Muiredach mac Robartaigh was born.
He became a monk and bore the name
Marianus Scottus. The story continues with
his life in Ireland, his spiritual journey to

Gardeners’ Question Time at Garden Society Meeting
The May meeting took the form of a ‘Gardeners’ Question Time’, with Stuart Dixon of
Radio Nottingham in the chair and John Stirland of Hebbs Farm and society member
Jean Allen making up the panel. As on previous occasions there was a lively discussion
on a variety of gardening topics, interspersed with anecdotes about gardening in the old
days and encounters with TV gardening presenters from the two professionals.
Members brought sick looking plant samples for diagnosis, which included a fungus
disease, physiological problems due to nutrient deficiency and a strangely flattened and
twisted branch showing what is known as fasciation, probably due to a genetic mutation
or virus. Questions included problems with sooty mould (look for aphids or scale
insects making the honeydew that feeds the mould), poorly performing greenhouse
chrysanthemums (feed weekly), and how to tackle an untidy holly tree (prune as
necessary, preferably in early spring). Advice was also given on moving plants and the
importance of choosing the right position according to the plant’s needs.
The relaxed atmosphere combined with practical advice was enjoyed by all. Many
thanks to the panel and the audience for making the evening such a success.
The next two meeting of the society will be garden visits at which, regretfully, we
cannot accommodate visitors.

Our Need to be Vigilant
Sir - I would like to thank all the
parishioners of the North Rural for their
continued support. Their vigilance when
out and about in the local areas. Also
especially to those who report incidents to
the Police when anything suspicious is
happening in your villages.
Please be vigilant of anybody who is
trying to get you to purchase something
you don’t need; for example Tarmacking
your drive, giving personal details over
the phone. My take on these people is if
I wanted my drive done I would get at
least three quotes and pick the best.
I recently received one which was about
someone telling me that I had a problem
with my - computer “WINDOWS” when
I challenged them about this they became
abusive and told me it was a scam.
Also it is getting warmer so please make
sure your house is secure, keep windows
and doors locked. Thanks again.

Lincs. Web www.lincs.police. Charity Clothing Bags
Sir - I read the letter on Clothing Charity
Bag collections in May’s edition of News
and Views.
If you read the small print on most of the
bags that come round they say that the
so-called charitable beneficiary will
receive a specified sum of money per ton
of clothing collected. The latest one, said
to be in aid of the Children’s Air
Ambulance, gives a figure of £105 per
ton.
I appreciate that many of these charities
do not have their own shops and at least
benefit to some extent from our
donations, but I agree with the ‘Local
Resident’ who suggests donating direct to
charitable retail outlets. There are plenty
of those in our nearby towns, and another
easy way to drop items is in the Tickled
Pink collection bins at Asda. Tickled
Pink raises money for both breast cancer
research and patient support, and to date
has contributed over £40m to these
causes.
I have driven past plenty of recycling
shops which offer around 70p, sometimes
more, per kilo, so with 1,000 kilos per ton
the clothing collectors can make upwards
of £700 per ton, and are passing less than
15% of this on to a charity. I am sure
some collectors make far more by sorting
and selling the best items themselves
rather than in bulk.
Residents might also like to know that a
local charity, Candles Lincolnshire, which
raises funds for Professor Eremin’s
cancer research trials at Lincoln County
Hospital and is entirely run by volunteers
so has no administrative overheads, has
opened a shop in Lincoln and would, I am
sure, be delighted to receive good quality
items.

Parish Council News ….June 2015
Annual Parish Meeting …..The meeting was held at the Village Hall on Wednesday
May 13th. A report was received by some six residents which detailed the activities of
the Parish Council during the year to the end of March 2015. If you would like a copy
of the report please do not hesitate to contact either myself or the Parish Clerk.
Parish Council Meeting …..This followed the above meeting with Richard Dix being
appointed as Vice Chairman, Geoff Ashcroft as the Chairman of the Planning
Committee with myself as Chairman of both the Finance Committee and the Parish
Council itself.
The meeting spent a considerable amount of time dealing with the nine planning
applications submitted to LCC by Mid UK Recycling Ltd seeking for their hours of
operation to be extended so as to include ALL Sundays, Bank and other public
holidays.
We are very strongly opposed to any change to their existing hours of operation as
these were put in place some time ago in order to protect the amenity of the
surrounding area. We will by the time that you read this note have submitted our
objection along with many from local residents as well as the Parish Councils of
Fulbeck and Carlton Scroop and Normanton.
The LCC Planning Committee will be meeting to consider this matter on Monday June
8th and we are encouraging as many residents as possible to attend that meeting
(please contact either Geoff Ashcroft or myself for further details) in order to show the
strength of opposition that there is to this proposal.
We are working closely with our County Cllr. Paul Wood and our re-elected District
Cllr. Bob Sampson over this matter as well as keeping Stephen Phillips our MP fully in
the picture.
Highway issues….A some what inconclusive meeting was held with staff from LCC
Highways who whilst recognising the need to under take ongoing repairs were not
receptive to a number of suggestions for improvements that we would like to be made
quoting budget cuts as being the main limiting factor. We will be taking this matter
further with County Cllr. Paul Wood.

Highways, Congestion and Facilties
Sir - As a retiring parish councillor, I
attended the last Parish Council meeting
for the four year period that has just
elapsed. I say, just, but four years is a long
time; it has gone very quickly and in that
time has achieved much for the village.
However, at the start of the meeting when
village parishioners are invited to speak on
village issues, a stark reality was put to the
PC by one parishioner who has supported
the PC at meetings for longer than I can
remember. His first concern was the very
poor the state of the highways within the
parish. Whether you drive, walk or are
assailed by dog-fouling the will and
available finances of the Highways
Division are all important before action is
taken. All the PC can do is keep on liais-
ing with the Highways department and
apply pressure to alleviate these problems.
Secondly, our parishioner was very
disappointed with the congestion on the
High Street. All those in the room backed
his words, some elaborating on the horrors
that this problem creates. The PC has done
nothing in the last four years (and more) to
do anything about this issue – true!
I, myself, would highlight the matter of
affordable housing for the young of this
village. At this level the PC has but little
power, but I would suggest that it is
possible to create some affordable housing
for the village.
I hope that most residents will be aware of
the impending updating of the village plan.
This document is a guide for the PC for
future plans which at the onset has been
approved by the people of the village. It is
a very important document for the people
of Caythorpe and Frieston and written by
the people of Caythorpe and Frieston.
As somebody who has lived in the village
all of my life, I have seen many changes;
the expansion of the villages, in particular
Caythorpe, has been extensive. My first
Caythorpe home was in Templeway Close.
Eastcliffe Square was built about the same
time. Since that time, the Arnhem estate,
Millfield, Craggs Paddock, Kings Hill,
Richmond Close, Waterloo estate, and
Holy Cross Gardens have all been added to
this impressive list.
Now looking back over the Parish plan of
2010 under section 1.4b, Caythorpe and
Frieston are designated a local service
centre. Surely some development could
be directed towards our village for it to
remain a sustainable community. Ah, but
we have just lost a chip shop – what next?
Perhaps it is time we had another injection
of dwellings within the villages - more
people, more sustainable facilities. Our
people in these villages must have a
greater influence on how it develops.
I can see a future development taking place
to the west of Back Lane, in effect joining
the NW corner of Millfields to Loveden
View. To that end, the village should act
first and build a sports facility, village hall,
playing field and car park opposite the
school playing field on Back Lane, thus
reducing the size of the inevitable housing
estate. It would be a good move.
Ultimately, the present playing field could
be sold for housing and the present village
hall turned into starter flats. If you read
that quickly you may think it couldn’t
happen, but it could with the will of a few
people and the backing of the people of
Caythorpe and Frieston.

District Councillors Report
Bob Sampson - 01400 273873 - 07766387872
My thanks to everyone within Loveden Heath Ward for their active support prior to the District
Council elections also to everyone who voted for my re-election. I look forward to serving the
whole community for the next four years.
I apologise if you have had difficulty in communicating with me over the post- election period,
all District Councillors are currently having their email and IT systems upgraded to Wi-Fi status
hence the short period being out of contact. I will shortly be posting my regular contact details
on all village notice boards. I will also be publishing a rota of all my open surgery dates
throughout the Ward alternating between village locations approximately every six weeks.
Just when we thought everything was settled, we now have Lincolnshire County Councils leader
Martin Hill saying” he believes abolishing District Councils could give the County more
bargaining power with the Government” and “such a move could save up to £30million per
year”, in other words we would become a Unitary Authority! What next?

Caythorpe Primary School Celebrates VE Day
On the 8th of May Caythorpe Primary celebrated the 70th anniversary
of VE-day. We
celebrated by
playing games
from the 1940s, a
street party on the school

We also wrote VE day poetry.
Games we played:
Maypole dancing - Skipping
Pin the flag on UK - Hoops
Tiddlywinks - Egg and spoon
Lindy hop - Shove the penny
French skipping - Hop scotch
We also
listened to
and
watched
clips of VE

and did the

where we
presented wreaths and put them on our school
cenotaph.
At lunch time we had a traditional street party and we
had our pack lunches and hot dinners on the play-
ground. We also wore red, white and blue and ate a
massive cake made by Mrs Keeble. We made
Union Jack paper chains and all had flags.

In and Around the Garden
At last we have had some much needed rain and the garden is looking all the better for
it. The flowering cherry trees have been superb, making a dramatic splash of pink
against the new leaves of the other trees, and on the roadside verges of the High Dyke
there are some beautiful patches of cowslips and bluebells. At home some of the
borders look rather untidy with clumps of leftover bulb foliage all over the place, but it
needs to be left for another few weeks to feed up the bulbs for next year. The area
between the dwarf fruit trees is a picture, however, covered in a froth of white-flowered
honesty. I raised the first plants from seed 3 years ago and they are now well
established and seed themselves around.
I have a few native orchids in the garden and these are just starting to produce their
spikes of bright purple flowers. Whisby nature reserve has a really good display of
them, which should be looking good when you get this magazine, alongside the railway
track on Grebe Walk. Also at Whisby the nightingales are back and singing their
wonderful song, and in the garden baby birds are starting to appear as the first broods
fledge. The robin was first but the tits will not be far behind. The adults are quick to
introduce their young to the easy pickings of the bird feeder, so we get a good view of
the youngsters from the window.
May also brought the return of the lily beetle, an alien invader that will destroy lilies,
fritillaries and other members of the lily family. It was first noticed in Surrey in 1939,
and spread slowly at first but has now been found all over England and as far north as
Aberdeen. Its survival tactics are remarkable: the adults are bright red, warning
colouration that discourages predators, but if this fails they fling themselves backwards
to the ground where their black undersides make them invisible. The larvae are pale
and soft, but they stay on the undersides of the leaves and cover themselves in their
own excreta as both camouflage and defence. Between them the adults and larvae will
strip a lily of all its leaves so vigilance is essential, but as I squash them I marvel at the
clever adaptations that have made them such a successful pest.

The Summer’s Here! It’s Time For Cricket
The Cricket season is now in full swing and as you may have noticed we have had some
rain! Despite the weather interruptions some good cricket has been played by all our
teams.
First Xl have continued their fine start to the season with a convincing win, by 8
wickets, against Old Lincolnians. For Caythorpe James King struck a belligerent 68 in
our total of 156 for 2, surpassing the 153 all out amassed by the Opposition. Our
bowlers shared the wickets, Adrian Graves, Sandy Ireland and our Captain Matt Duncan
each grabbed three, whilst opening bowler Luke Endley picked up one whilst conceding
only 16 runs from nine overs.
The Juniors have enjoyed training sessions on Friday evenings. Each week has seen
more than fifty boys and girls practising, guided by our qualified coaches.
Our Under 15's played Barkston and scored 97 for 5 wickets. Caythorpe then bowled
Barkston out for only 33, with Ben Johnson taking a hat-trick and then a fourth wicket
in one sensational over. He finished with figures of 5 wkts for 3 runs from 2 overs
making an early claim to performance of the season! This Team then played
Bracebridge Heath in the first round of the County Cup (currently held by Caythorpe).
BBH were skittled out for 32, runs easily knocked off by our batsmen.
Moving down the age groups, the under
13's have played two games, winning one.
Nettleham were defeated by 9 wickets,
with Captain Thomas Helliwell top
scoring with 26 not out and also taking 2
wickets. Unfortunately they then suffered
a bruising defeat against Woodhall
Spa but are hoping to win the first round
of their County Cup against Grantham.
Due to rain the Under 11's have only
played one game, beating Collingham
by 14 runs.
The Under 10's have yet to play. For them
it is the first year playing with a hard ball, and to enable the youngsters to receive more
coaching matches are not scheduled for the first weeks of the season.
Lastly our Under 9's have yet to play - but are top of the League! Two of our opponents
conceded games to us as they could not field teams. The third game scheduled was
rained off, but we hope to re-arrange it as it is important the boys and girls play
whenever possible. We were therefore very saddened when Lindum and Collingham
conceded.
Finaly the RAF Coningsby team that we host on Wednesdays started the season in fine
style with a win by 70 runs against RAF Marham from Norfolk.
We are always keen to find new players at all age levels, just come along on Friday
evening for a warm welcome.

New Logo for Carlton Scroop and Normanton Village Hall
Well, we have a NEW Logo! It comprises the very distinctive external outline
shape of our hall along with our blue door, and I’m sure you must agree that
C S & N Village Hall, is a more succinct version of our name!
We now have a Facebook page, so log on and “like” our page, it’s a great way to
make sure you don’t miss out on some of the exciting events we have coming up.
The events this coming season will again include live theatre which was a fresh
venture for us last year. We hosted two live shows, both
were very well supported and the feed-back from those
who attended was so positive, that the committee has bid
for three shows this coming season. The bids all had to
be in by the beginning of May, so now its fingers crossed
that we get allocated the shows that we registered a
preference for. Our choices once again include a drama/
comedy, a children/family show and, a new one for us,
live music.
With your continued support we will be able to host a fantastic, lively programme
of entertainment on your doorstep. All of the live shows are brought to you through
the Lincolnshire Rural Community Touring Program, made possible by funding
from Lincolnshire County & District Councils and from Arts Council England.
A further way that you can support us,
at no cost to you what-so-ever, is to
make your online purchases through a
web-site called “Easyfundraising”. As
a registered charity we have been able
to register with this site where 100’s of
retailers give a donation when you
make a purchase and, trust me…those
pennies do add up! So please do visit
www.easyfundraising.org.uk and sign
up – Happy Shopping! If you have any
queries you can always email us on

Convivial Coffee Mornings raise £1,000 for Charities
For those of you who are not aware, Ann and Edward Russell kindly open up their
home every month, to hold a Coffee Morning in aid of charity.
This month, they are celebrating TWELVE
months fund raising, having started the
coffee mornings in May 2014. They have
managed to raise almost £1000 in total!
The funds raised have supported various
charities, both locally and worldwide,
including mental health, water aid and the
Vanuatu cyclone disaster.
Ann and Edward make everyone feel very
welcome in their beautiful home, and
special thanks must go to them both for all the effort, kindness and support they have
given and continue to give......Long may it continue!
The Coffee Mornings take place at Cobbler's Rise, at 10.30am, on the
second Friday of every month. They are usually well attended, and
thoroughly enjoyed as a pleasant social occasion for members of
Caythorpe Village and other local villages. The next Coffee morning
will be on 12th June at
10.30am. This will be in aid of 'Medical
Aid for Palestinians'. Israeli forces have
destroyed the El Wafu hospital and the
situation is desperate.
The last Coffee Morning in aid of
Alzheimer's Research raised £65, a
good effort as numbers were down. This
time of year is busy but we do welcome
anyone who has the time to drop in, so see
you in June!
