I give intimate details of why I practice yoga as my deeply rooted Christian faith holds hands with modern exercise. It reaches past the outer appearance and looks at the heart, just as God does. Grow in your faith and be inspired to search beyond the physical. Five years ago, my father passed away to be with Jesus. It was on his death bed that he told me I should write a book. He said, “You are good.” That was enough for me. My dad was a man of few words, but when he spoke, it was with wisdom. Hearing that from my favorite person in the world woke a fire up in my soul. Passion stirred my imagination. I started writing more and couldn’t stop, the words flowed along with the tears of losing a man that I honored as pure treasure in my life. The one that was more than a best friend - he was my constant encouragement and had faith in me more than anyone else. Up until then, he was reading my blog. His malignant brain tumor triggered my writings. We knew where he was going, yet no one said it out loud. I wept through my writings, releasing words that fit best to describe the unbearable pain of losing a loved one. His faith in God was impeccable, he showed me what real faith was through death. I write because of him. My dad inspired so many with his unfailing trust and love in God. It only takes one person to believe in you and help you see your true worth. My dad did that, as our Heavenly Father does for us all. This is why we should choose love when we speak, interact and listen to everyone. You never know whose life you may impact. Life trials and hardships pushed me to the limits to finish it before 2014 was over. I want- ed to end the year with greatness, with something that I accomplished, and to live as if the adventure was just beginning. I got tired of saying I was going to write a book and DID it! I locked myself up in my house for days, forgetting to eat and sleep, and poured my heart into the book. My children and my father inspired me to make it happen. They helped me discover who I was in Christ and how NOT to waste the moments we’ve been given. I love writing. Sometimes I don’t know where the words come from, yet they appear on my page. If my words can encourage just one person to think beyond what we have been taught and embrace compassion, I will have accomplished what I set out to do.” 30 Thoughts from a Christian Yogi with Kara C. Adams 30 Thoughts from a Christian Yogi can be ordered through Lulu.com in paperback or as an eBook. ABOUT THE BOOK: 30 Thoughts from a Christian Yogi is more than beautiful artwork - it describes the thought process of a Christian yogi. Can a person be both Christian and a yogi? Isn’t de- votion to yoga contrary to practicing Christianity? Kara Adams’ brief but powerful work provides us with a lens through which we can observe just such a person. Throughout, we see that while not satisfied with settling for less than all she can squeeze out of this life, Adams stretches herself, her beliefs, and her spirit as she demands fullness, pres- ence and truth. To seek this in oneself and in others is a hallmark of the devoted yogi. This book will encourage your thoughts to go beyond the physical, give insight on per- ceptions of life during trying times, challenge limitations you may have and keep you coming back to read over and over again. This book was inspired through the artist that captured moments of life through their eyes. Inspiring images of grace through yoga or life occurrences. Kara, photographed by Marleina Harvey
