Managing CommitteeThe Special General Meeting under rule 46 was convenedon 31st March 2016, at Karachi Club Main Lawn whichwas attended by large number of Life & Permanentmembers to deliberate, approve with / withoutmodification the upcoming projects including megamulti-story versatile building and refurbishing ofSwimming Pool, Cards Room and Gents Sauna amenitieswith a view to bring them on global standards. The otherreason of calling SGM was to seek from worthy membersthe approval of Annual budget for period 2016 - 2017.
We, the Managing Committee bow down to Allah SWTin gratitude that all three projects were approved by theGeneral Body which is the supreme body of the club.
We are also grateful to the General Body for havingfaith in the Managing Committee by approving allprojects unanimously and upon request of PresidentAshfaq Yousuf Tola members also agreed to revamp theladies sauna.
The Mega Project (development of the adjoining Plots)was put forward to the General Body and a detailedpresentation was given first by the architect and laterdetails were discussed in great details by the PresidentMr. Ashfaq Y. Tola and Honorary Secretary Mr. Jawed H.Karim, explaining why such a huge project was the needof the hour.
Notwithstanding, some members had reservation againstthese projects as apart from master project, renovation
of other above-stated facilities which are already part ofmega project is a waste of funds besides various otherinterlinked issues name a few parking of vehicles andnon-availability of facilities during construction phase.Responding to these concerns President Ashfaq YousufTotal and Honorary Secretary Jawed H. Karim, assuredthe house that Managing Committee is mindful of theobstacles and financial impediments in the way of saidprojects, thereby proposed some viable options to thehouse as way forward to overshadow sticking points --increase of Rs. 100 in annual subscription, onetime 25%increase in monthly subscription, enhancement of newmembership fee from Rs. 1.6 m to 2 m, offering Annexemembership separately and last but not least offeringmembership on installment basis. Whereas the parkingissue during construction period is concerned, HonorarySecretary informed the house that he has productivedialogue with Chief Engineer Railway who also happensto be our Club member, has offered parking of approximately300 vehicles in railway houses adjacent to Karachi Club,in addition negotiation for parking of vehicles in theopen PPL plot is also underway. Honorary Secretaryfurther illustrated that shuttle service between MainClub and Annexe will be introduced for members’convenience if any of aforesaid facility is moved to Annexe.
The house appreciated loudly untiring and diligentexertion of Honorary Secretary Jawed H. Karim inamicably resolving the issue of renewal of lease in respectof plot 22/1 for period of 99 years where Club’s megaproject is going to be built. The house also appreciatedthe splendid efforts of G.M. Jamali (T-Member) and Mr.Mohammad Hanif Musani (Life Member) for his usefulcounsel in the process of lease renewal.

One of the main objectives behind renovation of theswimming pool was to give cover during summer monthsto our members and specially for ladies in view of the hugebuilding fast approaching completion. The other objectivebehind renovating facility is to give new shape and stateof the art design, uplifting ambiance, increase seatingcapacity and installation of motorized teflon slider assemblycover. Swimming Pool Convernor Mr. Zubair A. Razzak hasput in a huge effort in this entire process and the end resultso far is excellent.

The other feature of Special General Meeting was to approve the budgetary proposals for the periodof Apr 2016 - Mar 2017, which was required under the Club’s Rule. Meeting was presided over by theClub’s President Ashfaq Yousuf Tola who was assisted by Honorary Secretary, Jawed H. Karim andFinance Convener Mohammad Sohail Yaqoob. A comparison of last budget v/s revised was presentedalong with current budgetary proposals. Following proposed budget has been unanimously approvedwithout any modifications.
The efforts of Finance Convener and Finance Subcommittee were highly appreciated by the house.

KC Tennis Sub-Committee organized the 6thKC Team Event Tennis Championship 2016from 15th-28th March where a total of 48players participated in 4 categories.
The Final was played between KC Greens & KCBlues which was eventually won by KC Greensafter an intense battle with the score line of 3-1. Following are the results for each match:

Once there was a loving couple travelling in a bus in amountainous area. They decided to get down at some place.After the couple got down at some place the bus moved on. Asthe bus moved on, a huge rock fell on the bus from the mountainand crushed the bus to crumbs. Everybody on board was killed.The couple upon seeing that, said, "We wish we were on that bus"
What do you think why they saidthat? If they had remained on the bus instead of deciding to
get down, the resulting time delay could have been avoided andthe rock would have fallen after the bus had passed.
What in your opinion is the moral of the story?Think positive in life always.

There is a story which tells that during the bird shooting session,the instructor asked each shooter what he is looking at. Onecandidate said, I am looking at the flock of birds, another said, Iam looking at the tree where birds are about to sit however oneshooter said that I am looking of one of theflying birds!
What is your perception or comment on the three answers?
Logic to look: I want to draw your attention towards power of focus.
Focus means to insert all of your energies on one goal and donot let any obstacles change your attention.

and conducts a number of courses and workshopsfor all type of organizations and audiences. It wasa house full event with venue busting at its seamsas more and more members wanted to listen tohim. Mr. Shoaib Amin Dhedhi, convenor Publicationand his team ensured that all those wanting tolisten got a seat despite limited space. Membersthoroughly enjoyed the program and certainlylearned a lot from it. The event was followed bya dinner.
