48 cityscene lastscene An Artist’s View of the City Featuring watercolorist/illustrator “kevin e collander” K evin Collander, who was born in Cleveland and currently lives just north of Columbus with his wife Nancy, is a fine art watercolorist and illustrator, as well as a retail/interior de- signer. He has married his artistic talents with his profession, creating atmospheric landscapes, urban streetscapes, landmark homes and other architectural treasures. “It is a rich fascination,” Collander says, “capturing this environmental fabric in paint and documenting a moment in time.” His work can be seen locally at Art + Home, 745 N. Artist Statement…kevin e collander “creativity is my joy and watercolors are my love.” As a fine artist, i use watercolor and mixed media to explore traditional avenues and fresh, evocative expressions. My signature style includes atmospheric landscapes, urban streetscapes, landmark homes and architectural treasures, best recognized in my growing collection of vibrant nightscapes. My explorations grow. Distinctive two and three-dimensional expressions of the musical score and traditional books are exhibited in my collections entitled “. artistically notated notations .”, “Symphonic…” and “Seeing Wood…”. My emotionally rich artworks, “A Bookish Quilt…” and “. A Picture of Dorian Gray .” are prime examples of this fresh use of watercolor, ink and text. i marry my artistic talents with an architectural degree from The Ohio State University and my profession as a retail/interior designer. My creativity is diverse and unending. i enjoy illustration and creative writing, exemplified by my “Sammy Two Toys” story book, “Cheerio’s Spoonfuls of Stories” book competition entries, cartoon and greeting card line concepts and a screenplay. Being a contributing artist to selected charitable organizations has added special meaning to my art. i am a proud alumnus and continuing participant in the Grand Haven ArtWalk and Grand Rapids ARTPRIZE. My goal is to bring my artistic creations to a wider, appreciative audience and market. enjoy… [email protected]
