Transmitter Anchoring-ItisrecommendedthatKellersubmersibletransmittersbeinstalledinastillingwellorattachedtorigidconduitviaaconduitfittingintegraltothetransmitter,inordertopreventdamagetothetransmitterfromimpactwithimmovableobjects.Itisnotadvisabletotiethetransmittertoapumportopiping,asanyproblemwiththetransmittercouldrequirethatthepumpbepulledfromtheinstallation.

Someapplicationsrequirethetransmittertobesuspendedwithoutaprotectivestillingwellorconduitattachment.Inallinstallations,careshouldbetakentopreventdamagetothesubmersiblecable.

Transmitter Submersion -Damagetosubmersiblecablecanleadtofailureofthetrans-mitter.Kelleremploysaruggedcablejacketmaterialstominimizetheriskofcutsandabrasion.Still,takecarewhenloweringyourtransmitterintothewell,makingsurethecabledoesnotdragoversharpedges.Avoiddroppingthetransmitterfromthesurface.Donotsubmergeelectricalconnectionendofcable.

Condensation protection -Kellerhasoptimizedthesizeofthecableventtominimizetheoccurrenceofwatervaporincursion.Inareasofhighhumidity,itmaybedesirabletouseaDryingTubeAssembly(desiccant)orBellowsAssemblytopreventwatervaporfromenteringtheventtube.ContactKellerAmericafororderinginformation.

Bending of Cable-Ourjacketedcableisquiteflexible.However,caremustbetakentoensuretheventtubeintegraltothecableisnotcrimpedwhenbendingthecabletosuityourinstallation.Itisrecommendedthatthecablenotbebenttoaradiussmallerthan1inch.

Cable Compression -Manyusersemployacompressionfittingtosecureourcableasitentersajunctionbox.Caremustbetakenthatthefittingisnotovertightened,causingdamage to the cable and/or crimping the vent tube.

VII. Installation:

Thefollowingisimportantinstallationandgeneralmaintenanceinformationforsub-mersibletransmitters.PleasecontactKellerAmericaforadditionalinstruction.

Supply Voltage-Adequatesupplyvoltageiscriticaltoensureproperoperationof4-20mApressureandleveltransmitters.Withouttheminimumrequiredvoltageavailableatthetransmitter,thetransmitterwillnotoutputthecorrectanalogvalue.

Manyanalogtransmitterswillappeartooperateproperlyevenwhenthesupplyvoltageisnotadequatetopowertheloopwhenthetransmittershouldbeoutputting20mA.Forexample,a10voltsupplymayappeartobeenoughtopowerananalogtransmitterwhenitisoutputting4mAwithzeropressureapplied,butasthetransmitter’soutputincreaseswithincreasingpressure,voltagedropsacrossotherdevicesintheloop(ana-loginputdevices,cableand/orexternalbarrierdevices)mayreducethesupplyvoltagetothetransmitterandpreventitfromprovidingthecorrectoutputaboveacertaininputpressure/levelthreshold.

KellerAmerica’s4-20mApressureandleveltransmittersfeaturemicroprocessorbasedsignalconditioning.Duringpowerup,thecircuitperformsachecksequencewhichde-termineswhetherthereissufficientsupplyvoltagetopoweralldevicesontheloop,bysettingtheoutputto~110%ofthemaximumvalue,i.e.,~22.5mA.Ifthesupplyvoltageisnotsufficienttosupply22.5mAtothecircuit,thenthemaximumpossiblecurrentwillbeseenontheanalogoutput,e.g.,17mA,andthetransmitterwillnotinitiatenormaloperation.

Thebenefitofthistechnologyisthattotalloopimpedanceisaccountedforpriortoplacingtheequipmentintoservice,preventingfalseindicationswhenthevoltagesupplyisinsufficienttosupporttheloopwithmaximumpressureapplied.

Mostcurrentloopscontainanaloginputdevices,indicatorsorothercomponentshavinginputimpedanceswhichmustbeconsideredwhencalculatingthesupplyvoltagesneed-ed.Forexampleananaloginputdevicewitha250OhmInputImpedancewillrequireanadditionalvoltageof5.5VDC(250x0.022=5.5)inadditiontotheminimumsupplyvoltagenecessaryforthetransmittertooperateproperlyovertheentirerange.

Electrical conditions -EachKELLERproductisdesignedtooperateproperlywithinaspecificrangeofelectricalconditions.Thespecificproductlabeldefinestherating(s),ifany,thatappliestotheproducttowhichitisaffixed.Alltransmittersaredesignedtowithstandreversepolarityaswellasovervoltagetoacertainextent.Itistheuser’sresponsibilitytoensurethatallelectricalconnectionsaremadetotheKELLERproductsinaccordancewithKELLERrecommendationsaswellaslocalelectricalcode.Wirecolorsorconnectorpin-outsareeitherprintedonthelabelaffixedtotheproductorprovidedseparately.

Cleaning-WARNING!Undernocircumstancesshouldthemembrane,pressureinputport,ornosecaptotheKELLERdevicebeprobedwithanyobject.Damagetothesens-ingmembraneispermanentand,inmostcases,requiresrepairorreplacement.

Regardingmedia-isolatedproducts,shouldthepressureinputornosecaptothesensor,transducer,ortransmitterbecomefouled,itmaybecleanedinthefollowingmanner:

WarrantyperiodfortheLevelgage,LevelRat,Acculevel,Microlevel,Preciseline,andVal-uelineproductsis24(twenty-four)monthsfromdateofshipment.Warrantyperiodforallotherproductshereinis12(twelve)monthsfromdateofshipment.Warrantyrepaircoversallapplicablepartsandlabor.Thiswarrantyisgiveninlieuofanyotherwarranty,expressorimplied.KellerAmerica,Inc.explicitlydisclaimsanyimpliedwarrantiesofmerchantabilityandfitnessforaparticularpurpose.Therearenowarranties,expressorimplied,thatextendbeyondthedescriptionherein.ThesoleandexclusiveremedyforanyclaimsagainstKellerAmerica,Inc.shallbethewarrantydescribedinthisdocument.Alldamages,directorconsequential,limitedtothedescribedwarrantyareexcluded.

Repairs-UnlessotherwiserequestedinwritingbytheBuyer,allproductsreturnedtoKellerAmerica,Inc.underthetermsofthewarrantywillbecheckedandanalyzedinor-dertodeterminethecauseofthedefault(s)claimedbytheBuyer.AreportwillthenbesubmittedtotheBuyerpointingoutthenatureofthedefault(s),thepartyresponsibleforthedefault(s)andthequotationoftherepair,ifneeded.Forfurtherrepairinstruc-tionsgotowww.kelleramerica.com.

Complaints-AllclaimsordisputesmustbemadeinwritingtoKellerAmerica,Inc.amaximumof60daysfromreceiptofthegoods,includingdiscoveryoffaultsnotpre-viouslyapparent.Ifthewarrantyclaimsarejustified,KellerAmerica,Inc.isfreeatitsdiscretiontorepair,replaceorissuecredit.Nofurthercompensationfordamageswillbemade.

AnydisputesorclaimsofBuyermustbeinitiatedinapropercourtorotheradjudicativebody,asapplicable,withinone(1)yearfromthedateofshipmentbyKellerAmerica,Inc.,oritsrepresentative(s),orsuchclaimshallbedeemedinvalidorexpiredandcannotberenewed.Totheextentallowed,thislimitationperiodshalltrumpanyapplicablestatutorylimitationsperiodthatmaystatealongerperiod.

Limitation of responsibility -Ourresponsibilityconcernsthecorrectfunctionofourproductsonly.Itcannotbeextendedtothewholesysteminwhichtheyareused.Ourresponsibilityislimitedtothereplacement,repairorreimbursementofthegoodsweagreearedefectiveornon-conforming.Theclaimmustbeinwritingwithin60daysfromreceiptofthegoods.
