KCCP Kiwanis Children’s Cancer Program
KCCP is a Kiwanis
project that Key Clubs around the globe are
helping with. KCCP is a program where we are raising money to fund doctors doing
research. Their research is trying to
find a cure for cancer.
Fact: A cure found for a child will also cure and adult, however a cure found for an adult will not cure
a child.
Founded by: Frank Morehouse
Past Governor of the Pacific Northwest District of Kiwanis
The funds raised in the Northwest district go to
3 local hospitals: -Doernbecher in
Portland, OR -Seattle Children's
Cancer Hospital -BC Children's
Hospital, Canada
Thousands of Children are
diagnosed with cancer each year.

~Invisible Children
This program raises money to solve a conflict in Uganda. The conflict that this program is trying to resolve the abduction of children, who once abducted are used as child soldiers.
~One Dollar for Life
This non-profit foundation shows how one dollar may make a change in third-world poverty countries, especially if each student in a high school gives one dollar each.
~March of Dimes
This Key Club Partner who helps support lifesaving research to prevent and improve the care for the premature babies.
~Relay for Life
This organization is working for a change in the future of cancer. Relay for Life “celebrates the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fights back against the disease.”( http://www.relayforlife.org/)

Bikin’ to the Beach
Bike Ride Saturday, May 19, 2012 Why Ride? Here’s your opportunity to help save kids’ lives by raising money for the Kiwanis Doernbecher Children’s Cancer Program
Doernbecher Children’s Hospital has given hope and loving care to critically ill children with cancer in Oregon and SW Washington for the past seven decades regardless of their family’s income. However, at Doernbecher, health care providers don’t only treat sick kids. Doernbecher is an innovative research center where promising pediatricians are trained to become the next generation of Pediatric Oncology specialists. By taking part in the Bikin’ to the Beach Bike Ride, you will help Doernbecher research the causes of children’s cancers.
Bike Ride:
Bike Ride starts at Marshall Center, goes to Frenchman’s Bar, and then back to Marshall Center
• Each rider must wear a helmet at all times during the ride
• Bring a full water bottle and sunscreen and sunglasses, or rain gear if there is liquid sunshine
• Sign in: 8:00 am behind the East Parking Lot at Marshall Center:
Marshall Community Center 1009 East McLoughlin Boulevard, Vancouver, WA 98663
• Start time: 8:30am • Estimated Finish Time: 11:15 - 11:30am

• A rider’s map will be handed out on the day of the race
Can’t Ride?��� BE A “GHOST RIDER”!
• Check the “Ghost rider” box on the registration form.
• Obtain donations and mail the checks in with your completed registration form no later than May 11, 2012.
• Checks should be made payable to KDCCP.
$5 registration fee and all participants must raise a minimum of $25
Prizes for this year:
• Key Club who raises the most money per person wins a pizza feed for all members who raised $25 or more!
• An event t-shirt will be given to each participant who raises $100 or more.
• Prizes will also be given to the top individual fundraisers!

Some Local Projects This Summer
Fair Parking Where: Cowlitz County Fair Ground
When: During Cowlitz County Fair
Description: You will work with the local Kiwanis and
guide people to open parking spots throughout the grass
area across from the fair grounds. There will be different
shifts throughout the day.
Fireworks Booth When: June 28 – July 4
Age limit: must be 18 or over
Description: Selling Fireworks with the local Kiwanis club.
DCM’s are Divisional Council Meetings.
When: Monday, May 14
Where: Community Room at Three Rivers Mall
This is between a nail salon and Sears.
Who is it for: This is mandatory for club officers, however
everyone is invited
Descriptions: At this meeting you will be introduced to your Ltgs., along with learning your duties as an officer, and more information on KCCP.
