How Teacher Voice Matters: Tell Us What You Think About

Common Core

Puget Sound Educa-tional Service District is administer-ing The Teacher Practice Networks Annual Survey to better understand what kinds of supports are helping teachers to implement new state standards, referred to as the Com-mon Core or the Washington State

Learning Standards.

Teachers are invited to complete the online survey here by October

24th.

Your feedback will help the Puget Sound Educational Service District as well as the national Teacher Practice Networks community to improve and extend our work. Thank you for your time and for your valuable feedback!

We want to take a moment to thank all our par-ents, our special education teach-ers, our related service providers, and our school principal for attending our first of the year “Special Service Parent Meet-ing” Thursday on Oct 9th, 2014. The most powerful and informative part of the night was hearing from 4 parents of special needs children. Each parent spoke about their experience attending their child’s very first IEP meet-ing. Let’s just say, there wasn’t a dry-eye in the house after listening to each parent’s share! Since then, we re-ceived very positive feedback about our

Special Education Parent Night.

After the meeting, two parents have offered to spear-head a support group for “First time IEP parents” for our Orting School District. The purpose of the parent group is to support ”First time IEP parents.” They have walked the walk and they have talked the talk as parents of a child with a disability and we are here to support you. We will keep you informed as we have more development of the “Parent Sup-port Initiative”. We thank you all for attending! Please be watching your email for the next Special Service Par-ent. Hello my name is Shannon Dooley (the one on the far left) and I have hijacked Miller's computer. For those of you who don't know me, I am a junior at OHS. The OHS Service Club is going to Nicaragua in July 2015 to build a school and

help the local community. The cost of the trip per student is about $4,000, making the total cost around $40,000. All of the students going on the trip, including me, have been working diligently to raise money for the trip. This is a

once in a lifetime opportunity for all of us, as well as for OHS.

Currently we are selling t-shirts specially designed by our group for those that would like to support us. Each t-shirt is $12 and each student will receive $6 per shirt they sell. Thank you for your support and generosity!

∙ If you would like to purchase a shirt please reply back the following information: Name, Color,

Size, Number of Shirts, and Building Location.

∙ Shirts will be delivered on November 3rd and payment can be made then.

∙ Color Choice: White, Charcoal, Purple, Grey

I now return the computer back to Mr. Miller,

Shannon Dooley
