More than 4,000 members filled the halls of MIECC on 16-17 January 2016. Top leaders including International Executive President’s Team 20K Derek Chan & Joanne Chang as well as local leaders held various sharing and learning sessions with members as they spoke about their business strategies and success stories. The outstanding leaders received thunderous rounds of applause from the audience as they received their recognition on stage for their stellar performance. At the expo hall, booths such as the Shake bars and those selling exclusive Herbalife merchandise items were crowded with visitors and were enjoying brisk sales. Proceeds from the sale of shakes will be channelled to the HFF. At the Member Practice & Compliance and the Requalification booths, members participated sportingly in the games and quizzes and many walked away with attractive prizes. The two-day celebration was simply spectacular and members left the event high-spirited and geared up to welcome a more exciting year ahead, working together and building it better in 2016! Michael O. Johnson has a track record of success as a leader. Named chief executive officer of Herbalife in 2003 and chairman in 2007, he sets the vision and strategy, and is the voice of the company to Independent Herbalife Members in more than 90 countries. He oversees all aspects of the company’s global operations, ensures the company has the resources necessary to meet its goals and pursues profitability and growth to increase shareholder value. Under his leadership, the company has grown from 2003 net sales of $1.1 billion to $5 billion in 2014; introduced industry leading standards in consumer protection; and built a global brand through its sponsorship of more than 200 teams, athletes and fitness events around the world, including the LA Galaxy and international soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo.

Michael has strengthened Herbalife’s product development and manufacturing through the development and execution of a ‘Seed to Feed’ strategy that ensures rigorous quality standards and control of product integrity. He has overseen significant investment in scientific areas of R&D, quality assurance, product safety and compliance; the creation of a more vertical supply chain; partnerships established with world-class ingredient suppliers and even farmers of key ingredients; and the building of a team of industry leading scientists and experts who innovate in the nutrition field, while maintaining a high standard of product quality. Michael is also chairman of the Herbalife Family Foundation (HFF), which is funded through donations from Herbalife, its Members, employees, families and friends. In 2005, HFF launched its worldwide Casa Herbalife Program to help bring good nutrition to vulnerable children – there are now more than 130 Casa Herbalife programs helping bring good nutrition to over 100,000 children around the world every day. Outside the boardroom, Michael is a fitness enthusiast and has been participating in triathlons and cycling races for more than 30 years. He has encouraged Herbalife Members and employees to join with him in participating in triathlons, marathons, cycling and fitness events around the world.
As vice president, nutrition education and development, Luigi Gratton, M.D., coordinates the strategic management and direction of Herbalife’s nutrition curriculum to ensure Independent Herbalife Members have a thorough understanding of Herbalife® products, ingredients and benefits. In addition, he manages the day-to-day operations of the education department assuring all Member and medical inquiries receive a quick and accurate response. Gratton speaks at major Herbalife events, enhancing Members’ knowledge about Herbalife® products. He also works closely with Member trainers around the world to ensure the dissemination of accurate product information. He has written numerous articles on nutrition and obesity, and has appeared on television speaking on nutrition, anti-aging medicine, sports nutrition, and other medical topics. Gratton earned an undergraduate degree in science and a master’s in public health from University of California, Los Angeles*. He was awarded a medical degree from Mount Sinai Medical School of New York University and fulfilled his residency in family medicine at Los Angeles County Hubert Humphrey Family Medicine Center. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship in clinical nutrition at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA*. In addition, Gratton has worked as a physician specialist in family medicine and as a clinical physician at the UCLA* Center for Human Nutrition in the risk factor obesity program. It was a season of giving and merry-making as many Santa Rinas and Santa Claus comprising staff from Herbalife Malaysia and vendors, brought cheers and exciting gifts for the children of the Good Samaritan Home (GSH), one of the Casa Herbalife programmes in Malaysia, on 23 December 2015. We arrived in GSH at 12 noon and had a wonderful time interacting, playing games and getting to know the children. Later, the children were treated to a sumptuous lunch and they entertained us with Christmas carols and songs.
