Booster Pump This Kinetico accessory is designed to produce a higher volume and better quality of water than is possible under low pressure operating conditions. A booster pump is recommended whenever high TDS or low pressure conditions exist. If the volume of water produced by the Kinetico Drinking Water System with the available water pressure is not satisfactory to the customer, a booster pump can be added.

The booster pump raises the feed pressure entering the R.O. module to approximately 95 psig. The increased pressure increases the volume and the quality of permeate water produced by the RO module.

The Kinetico RO Booster Pump consists of an electric diaphragm pump, voltage transformer and a pressure switch, which turns the pump on via a signal from the Kinetico Drinking Water System. All these components are packaged in an attractive enclosure with a removable cover.

The booster pump measures 12" long by 7" wide by 5" high, making it easy to install beneath a kitchen sink or any desirable location. The pump comes with a 5 foot electrical cord.

Operation When the Kinetico Drinking Water System senses the tank needs to be filled, the main spool valve in the R.O. module (or the shutoff valve on A200 units) opens. Feed water enters the inlet port, pressurizing the membrane and the bottom of the module.

The booster pump pressure switch is connected to a port in the bottom of the RO module via an elbow and ¼" O.D. tubing included in the optional installation kit. The pressure switch contacts close when the water pressure reaches approximately 10 psig. This starts the booster pump, which produces regulated 95 psig water pressure at the RO module inlet port.

Permeate water is now produced by the membrane and fills the storage tank. When the storage tank water pressure reaches approximately 2/3 of line pressure (in this case 62 of 95 psig) the Kinetico Drinking Water System shuts down, preventing any more feed water from entering the membrane. On Plus units, the membrane is then flushed with permeate water.

Then the bottom of the sump begins to depressurize. When the pressure falls to less than 10 psig, the pressure switch contacts open, shutting off the pump. The pump will remain off until enough water is consumed to lower the pressure in the storage tank to the turn on point of the R.O. system. Feed water now enters the inlet port, applying pressure to the membrane and the bottom of the module and starting the cycle over again.

Notes and Cautions - Do not run pump dry for extended periods.

The use of a Ground Fault Interrupter (GFI) is recommended and may be required locally. Consult and follow state and local codes for your specific area before starting installation.

Always unplug pump before servicing.
