This course is designed to provide students with understanding of basic principles, concepts, terminology

and practices of management in all types of enterprises. Students will be introduced to management theory,

research and practice. Particular attention will be given to the basic managerial functions such as planning,

organizing, directing and controlling. Whenever possible, efforts will be made to relate these materials to

management in Saudi Arabia. The objective of principles of Management is to guide the professional

development of the students by focusing on the core competencies of effective managers.

This course covers theories, concepts, and analytical techniques in financial management, evaluation of

financial goals and objectives, overview of financial markets and institutions, financial statements and cash

flows, time value of money, ratio analysis, working capital management, short-term financing operating and

financial leverages, financial forecasting and planning, capital budgeting techniques. This course is

designed to provide a comprehensive initialization and introduction to the field of financial management.

The core emphasis is laid on the processes and methodology of financial statement analysis, which can be

applied in corporate sector and used as guidelines in assessing, interpreting and planning financial data to

This course is an introductory course and deals with the principles of microeconomics. The course is

intended to provide the student with the basic issues concerning microeconomics covering economic

concepts, economic approach, demand, supply, and price, along with the analyses of consumer and

producer behavior both in the short and long runs. It also covers market structure with explanation of

characteristics of different market forms for goods and services as well as factors of production. Some

highlights are reviewed about market failure, role of government, taxation and public expenditure, and

environmental protection.

The main learning outcome of the course will be as follows:

i. To introduce the macro- and micro-economic concepts and methods of economic analysis and they

will also develop the ability to apply these to a range of business problems.

This course aims to impart knowledge of accounting as an important information system in economic

entities, with special emphasis on accounting cycle in both service and merchandising companies, recording

entries, posting, preparing, and preparing trial balance, income statement, change in equity statement, and

balance sheet. It also covers merchandising operations under both periodic and perpetual inventory systems.

The main learning outcomes of the course will be as follows:

i. To explain the accounting statements are prepared with the ability to interpret these and other

financial and managerial accounting information in an organizational context.

Course Code: STA 101 Course Name: Statistical Methods for Management

This course aims to familiarize students with statistics and its applications in accounting and business

research. It covers basic functions of data collection and its classification. It also introduces students how to

measure the central tendency and dispersion in frequency distribution. It is intended to provide students

with advanced knowledge of statistics. Introducing basic concepts of probability and statistics for business

students. It also introduces index number and time series analysis. Students will learn the difference

between descriptive and inferential statistics and how to use them in statistical analysis. This course

introduces the concept of hypothesis testing and sampling methods and their importance in real world. This

provides the understanding of the nature of randomness of real world problems, the formulation of

statistical methods by using intuitive arguments and thereby making meaningful decisions.

i. To use descriptive statistics.

ii. To illustrate the methods for the data analysis.

various issues that arise in labor markets. Theory of labor supply and its applications are discussed, as well

as investment in human capital, along with labor demand and wage elasticity, the labor market equilibrium,

wages and distribution theories, wage differentials in the market, ending with labor market in Saudi Arabia.

The main learning outcome of the course will be as follows:

i. Describe the complexities of the labor market.

iii. Write about the basic theory of labor economics.

iv. Interpret the quantitative analysis that used in labor economics.

Course Code: MGT223 Course Name: Business Communication

The course focuses on the knowledge and skills associated with clearly receiving, transmitting and

communicating information within the business environment. Using communication theory and practical

application, students will develop effective writing, speaking, and presentation skills required conveying a

The course is a theoretical approach to analyze the behavior of the individual consumer and supplier in the

marketplace. It includes consumer demand theory, costs of production, and market structures ranging from

pure competition to monopoly. An over view analyses will be conducted to factor markets, mainly labor

and capital markets and a hands on environmental issues.

The main learning outcome of the course will be as follows:

i. Explain the theories of consumers, producers and agency theory.

ii. Describe what is market imperfections and various tools used by the government for market

interference and their implications.

iii. Analyze consumers’ and producer’s behavior and explain them.

Course Code: ECN213 Course Name: Money and Banking

Credits: 3 (3+0+0) Pre-requisite: ECN 102

This course is a continuation and expansion of money and banking concepts introduced in Macroeconomics

(ECN102), which includes money, banks, and other financial intermediaries, as well as analysis of the role

and functions of central banks. Concepts of monetary control, monetary policy, and international banking

are extensively and intensively analyzed. The course goal is for students to master the logic, intuition and

operation of a financial system - money, financial markets (money and capital markets, debt and equity

markets, derivatives markets), and financial institutions and intermediaries (the Central Bank, depository

institutions, credit unions, pension funds, insurance companies, venture capital firms, investment banks,

mutual funds, etc.). In other words, how money/capital change hands between agents over time, directly

The course is an intermediate-level theory examining determinants of GDP, employment, and inflation. It

emphasizes economic model building (both classical and Keynesian) and the use of monetary and fiscal

policies to control business cycles and inflation. An overview of international trade and finance issues are

treated in an integral approach to macroeconomics theory.

This course is designed to exam economic growth in the economy with emphasis on the problems of

economic growth in different urban sectors based on theories, models, and polices of regions and sectors

applying input output analysis. Issues like migration from rural areas to urban and consequences are

critically analyzed. The course looks at factors instrumental in determining economic growth in various

segments of the economy; linked with urban problems associated with growth.

The main learning outcomes will be as follows:

i. Explain the basic theories of regional and urban economics on macro level parameter bases.

ii. Demonstrate the skills of identifying and handling the environmental issues in the region.

Course Code: ECN215 Course Name: Agricultural Economics

This course focuses on the Agricultural Economics based on the development of analytical, quantitative,

computing and communication skills with an academic emphasis on commodity markets and agricultural

and natural resource issues. Skills highly regarded by employers are gained throughout the course and by

This course surveys the main schools in the history of the development of economic thought, beginning

with the classical school and the works of Smith, Ricardo, J.S. Mill, Thornton, Say, and others. It then

reviews challenges to the classical school by Marx, Marginalists, and subsequent key figures like Marshall,

Walras and the Neo-classicalists. Economic thought associated with the early 20th century transitionalists

are briefly addressed, including economists such as Wicksell, Schumpeter, Fisher, and others. Some

selective chapters and passages of Keynes' General Theory are read in depth, focusing in particular on

Keynes in areas of investment, interest rate theory and money demand. Post-1945 revisions of Keynes and
