When to Request Testing

• You are encouraged to go through the RTI process

• After a 504 or ARD meeting in which it is determined that a student should be tested for Dyslexia, go to the web application and request testing

To log on to KISD Connect, go to the KISD website’s home page and click on STAFF.

Click on KISD Connect.

At the prompt, enter your NT user ID and click Log In.

In the upper left-hand corner, you will see Staff Links. Click on Assessment.

Dyslexia Request for Testing

Enter the student’s ID, click yes/no for Military Transfer, then click Submit.

• At the top of the screen, please verify that you have the correct student. • This is very important, as assessors have tested the wrong student in the past.

• The year defaults to the current school year.

• After spring break, this screen to be turned off to give the assessors time to test the students before the end of the school year.

General Data Input

• If Spanish is chosen for the test language, the program will default the assessor to Margaret Ruiz, KISD’s only bilingual assessor.

• Click on ARD or 504 as appropriate.

• Vision and hearing tests should be completed before you request testing.• A student should have passed both hearing and vision tests, or have a doctor’s note stating that it is okay to continue testing the student.• All dates default to today’s date, and should be changed to reflect the actual date of the test.

• Please indicate if a students needs glasses or contacts for testing.• Please ensure that the student has the appropriate corrective lenses for the day of testing. (Give reminders)

The Dyslexia Log screen has a criteria selection. It should default to your campus.Notice the Excel button which allows you to download the list of students and tests.

The left side of the Dyslexia Log screen shows the requestor, assessor initials, campus, student name/enrollment date, student ID, current grade, curriculum code and parent permission date.

Notice the glasses, which indicates the student is required to wear glasses for the assessments.

The right side of the Dyslexia Log screen has some links. Each of these is described in detail in the following slides.

The Student File link allows you to update the data that was entered under the Dyslexia Request For Testing screen, such as Parent Permissions, Grade, Form Number, and Test Language.

The Student File link also allows you to update the vision and hearing data.

The Test Results link allows you to update test scores. Ensure that you have the correct student, then update the Assessment Information.

Test Results

Form 1 was used from 2008 thru February 2011.Form 2 was used from February 2011 to October 2013.Form 3 was used starting in October 2013. Each year has a different color scheme.Form 3 will be used for the 2015-2016 school year. Form 3 colors are Black and Orange.

Test Results

The age of the student at the time of the test is pre-calculated. Students aged 4-6 will have scores for Sound Matching, Rapid Color Naming and Rapid Object Naming.

If a percentile rank gives you a result that has a sign, such as <97, use the Percentile Rank Sign to indicate the sign, and then enter the 97 in the blank space. This applies to all scores that have a sign next to them.

The Test Type is a drop-down list and should default to the current year’s test. For 2016, we are using Form B tests.

If the test results are from another school district, click ‘Other’ and enter the name of the district for each test that this applies.

The gray areas do not have any data to input.

Click on the Dyslexia Profile link to view the profile in Adobe PDF. You may print the profile or save and email as needed.
