KISD SAFETY PROTOCOLS

• Detailed protocols can be found in the KISD COVID-19 Public Health Guide.

• The following slides are just a few bullet points of some important highlights from the plan that you will need to know if you will be participating in In-Person Instruction.

• Please read the full guide for an overview of all the things we are doing to make sure our learning environment is as safe as possible.

VISITOR RESTRICTIONS

KISD campuses will be considered closed environments to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Front office areas will be open and available for drop-offs. We encourage parents to make an appointment to speak with campus staff regarding formal meetings, parent conferences, 504, and Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings.

Our closed campus protocol prohibits visitors from walking students to classrooms, visiting classrooms, and eating breakfast or lunch in the cafeteria. We understand our COVID-19 mitigation efforts will change the traditional school landscape; however, all decisions have been made with the health and safety of our students, staff, and KISD community at the forefront.

SCREENING

Before entering any KISD facility (campus), all students, staff, and parents will be required to self-screen daily for COVID-19 symptoms.

If a student or parent recognizes COVID-19 symptoms are present, they should consult their health professional before returning to school. As soon as practical, the individual(s) will report their status/reason for absence to the relevant campus attendance officer and/or school nurse.

After reporting their absence, the individual(s) will follow the Return to Campus section of this plan.

• Feeling feverish or a measured temperature greater than or equal to 100.0 degrees

• Loss of taste or smell• Cough• Difficulty breathing• Shortness of breath• Fatigue• Headache• Chills• Sore throat• Congestion or runny nose• Shaking or exaggerated shivering• Significant muscle pain or ache• Diarrhea• Nausea or vomiting

Face Coverings

Students and staff will be required to wear face coverings.

• All adults, staff, and students in the building will wear face coverings, especially when individuals are within six feet of one another.

• All face coverings must fully cover the nose and mouth, and unless an exception applies, be worn in a manner to cover the nose and mouth.

• Face coverings must be worn while riding the bus.

Any artistic elements, words, logos, symbols, pictures, or other features that are not necessary for the function of the face-covering must conform and comply, as relevant, with the dress code requirements found in the Student Code of Conduct.

Campus leadership is permitted to apply the dress code standard to face coverings and retain all the options relating to enforcing the dress code to include the application of the rules, response to violations, mitigating violations, consequences/discipline.

Students who refuse to comply with the face cover requirement (to include KISD buses), and after being asked to comply, will be subject to a disciplinary referral. The referral will be made, processed, and decided upon using the same process used for any other student conduct violation.

In addition to any other disciplinary measures which may be imposed, any student found to have violated the face-covering requirement while on a KISD bus may have their bus riding privileges suspended or revoked.

SWITCHING BETWEEN VIRTUAL AND IN-PERSON INSTRUCTION

If a student arrives in-person on Tuesday,

September 8th, they will be marked as an In-Person

learner.

Students cannot flip-flop between learning

platforms after September 8th.

Starting September 9th, in order to change platforms, parents must go through

the KISD process and procedures by contacting

the campus.

• Parents and students can see the schedules on Home Access Center.• Under Courses, click Schedule to see

the room numbers

• Staff will be available in the cafeteria to help students find out where their first period is.

CAFETERIA PROCEDURES

STUDENTS WHO ARE EATING SCHOOL LUNCH

WILL PICK UP THEIR FOOD IN THE MOBILE

KITCHEN LOCATED OUTSIDE OF THE GYM NEAR THE STUDENT

PARKING LOT.

STUDENTS ARE ALLOWED TO EAT IN THE SMALL GYM CAFETERIA, THE CAFETERIA PORTABLE

(LOCATED BY ROTC BUILDING) AND OUTSIDE

BETWEEN THE SMALL GYM AND THE 200

HALLWAY.

STUDENTS NEED TO WEAR THEIR FACE

COVERING UNTIL THEY SIT DOWN TO EAT.

STUDENTS SHOULD REMAIN SEATED WHILE

IN EITHER OF THE CAFETERIAS.

EXIT PROCEDURES

Bus riders report to the small gym cafeteria. Bus numbers are announced and displayed on the projector.

Walkers, drivers, and students being picked up by parents will exit through the gym lobby.

ID CARDS & SCHOOL SUPPLY DISTRIBUTION

ID cards will be given to students during their 2nd period class.If the student needs to take a photo, they will receive a temporary ID and Student Activities will call them down to take their photo later in the week. School supplies will be distributed through 2nd period classes. • Lockers will be issued upon

request.
