    Irregular Warfare Centers Quarterly Newsletter is designed to

    keep you informed on the latest developments within thecommand.

    Ombudsman. The KIWC

    Command Ombudsman is the

    Commanding Officer's

    representative to our KIWC

    outstanding Navy families.Whether you are a spouse,

    child, sibling, parent, or other

    family member, the

    Ombudsman is here to answer

    your questions and refer you to

    the many experts available for

    assistance.

    Ombudsmen are volunteer

    command appointed spouses

    and, just like many of you,

    know the hardships involved in

    serving as a Navy family. The

    KIWC Ombudsman is the firststep to discovering the large

    network of friendship and

    assistance that is available to all

    Navy families. Please do not

    hesitate to contact your KIWC

    Ombudsman with any

    questions or concerns.

    better than others do. Cookies

    that have a crunchy or hard

    texture such as biscotti,

    Mexican wedding cakes,

    crisps, Springerle, and

    shortbreads make excellent

    choices for mail delivery.

    Cookies that have a slightly

    chewy texture, like chocolate

    chip, oatmeal, snickerdoodles,

    and white chocolate-cranberry

    cookies also ship well. Have

    CAPT Douglas PeabodyFirst, let me extend a Thank You to Christian for taking charge as theKENNEDY Ombudsman. Feedback from deployers highlighted ashortfall in support to our families and the Ombudsman is one step tomake sure we support the extended KENNEDY family.

    Second, please take advantage of what the Ombudsman can offer...agreat source of information and a first step to a larger group ofservices/families/programs meant to provide support and assistanceduring deployments. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS!

    Third, remember the Ombudsman program is a VOLUNTEER program...people taking the time tosupport the KENNEDY family...it requires your support, feedback and a willingness to want to make it

    work...please help us make the program better.When you get a chance, thank Christian yourself and pass on any tips to her (or the CMC) to make ourfamily support better.

    community forum for the command.

    Staying ConnectedKIWC command members and their families are

    geographically disbursed, to say the least! The

    expansive DC/MD/VA corridor is just the

    beginning, reserve support spans all corners of the

    US, and extended families stretch the command

    even further. In light of this, the Ombudsman

    efforts for KIWC will evolve to incorporate a

    KIWC in the News

    KIWC MEMBERS ATTEND A NATS GAME

    The Washington Nationals appreciate all that the brave men

    and women of the armed forces do for out nation. Every

    home game has in-game military appreciation. Recently

    KIWC members attended a game a they were recognized

    for their DoD contributions.

    Tactical Intelligence Support Team (TIST) 10

    took a team photo prior to their departure to

    support overseas missions. All TISTs at

    Kennedy complete extensive individual and

    team training. The civilians and military teammembers the make up KIWC are nothing

    short of the best and the brightest.

    Bio of the Current KIWC OmbudsmanChristian Vegerita is a native Texan and former U.S. Navy Reserve Surface

    Warfare Officer. She resides in Burke, Virginia with her two kids, one dog, and

    husband, Frank. Christian works part-time as a contractor and the other part-of-

    the-time supporting the Vegerita household, consisting of our beloved Navy

    Daddy, two beautiful children and one spunky dog.
