• From various media we learnt that The Great East Japan earthquake caused intense damage to property and many people lost their lives.
• Though many lives were saved due to timely evacuation, the shortage of information from Japan to the world created many doubts in the minds of people.
• Most of us were apprehensive about visiting Japan as we were aware of the nuclear meltdown due to the earthquake and tsunami.
• Residents of Fukushima were ill treated and discriminated after the incident.
• Adverse effects on Agriculture, Fishing and Tourism • Radiation levels in the Minamiaizu area are much below the
permissible global standards • Regional television and radio stations helped rescue many lives • Every citizen/child is trained on how to act in the event of an
earthquake. • Listening to the survivors, we understood that, its not only physical
and financial aid that is needed from the rest of the world, but also a united support to dispel harmful rumors.
• We learnt that most of the lives were lost due to the tsunami and not due to the earthquakes
• Agricultural products are inspected thoroughly and it is ensured that they are free from radiation .
• Stringent testing methods are employed to ensure that the food is safe for consumption
• A sticker is used to mark safe food and people may confirm this using their Mobile Phones or Computer.
