    1. INTRODUCTION

    1.1 Knowledge Management

    KM can be defined as making right knowledge available to the right people. It is about

    making sure that one organization or sector of people is able to retrieve and use this

    knowledge whenever they need to. The objective is to manage, share, and

    create relevant knowledge assets that will help meet tactical and strategic requirements. Its

    purpose is to increase an organization's capacity to detect problems and solve them easier and

    faster, share or present the solutions to others and adapt. Knowledge Management can be

    In this case, we are building a knowledge management portal for our organization. We want

    our customers as well as our employees to understand the concepts of creating a well designed

    portal that will be useful to both groups. Our goal is to give as much information as possible

    to our customers about the products we are offering by making anything they need available

    on this web portal. We will talk about the concepts we used in terms of aesthetics, usability,

    and functionality of our portal.

    1.2 What is a Web Portal

    A portal is a "cyber door" to a website. It's a service that offers a broad array of resources and

    services, such as e-mail, forums, search engines, and online shopping malls. A web portal is

    also known as a links page. It is similar to a standard search engine but also offers extraservices such as email, horoscopes, and entertainment.A portal provides at least four

    essential services:

    search engines email links to other related sites personalized content.

    2. OUR WEB PORTAL2.1 Purpose of our portal

    We decided to make a movie portal. We wanted to make new movies available to people

    inside their homes. Our aim was to organize our website in terms of what customers are

    looking for and at the same time increase profitability of our company. We put ourselves in a

    position as the firm for example: blockbuster. Blockbuster has mini shops available all over

    the world but they do not have movies available online for people to watch inside their homes.

    They are only available if the home has a certain cable called On demand. They have no ways

    of communication and there is a charge for every movie watched. We thought that we would

    gain peoples trust if we make a web portal where people can watch movies from inside their

    homes for free and this would increase the number of people coming into our shops. These

    movies will have a smaller resolution and quality than the ones available in theaters or on dvd.

    We do not think that it will decrease the amount of customers because the movies are free, we

    think that people will still continue to come into our shops if we gain trust and offer them

    something for no cost at all.

    Our employees will also be able to share knowledge among themselve throught this portal.

    They will be able to use decision making techniques in order to reach certain goals and build a

    learning organization by making a learning routine

    2.2 The design of our Web Portal

    This is the first thing our customers can see on our portal. We chose to put some of the best

    actors on the cover in order to gain attention of viewers. Below we decided to add some of the

    top rated movies that most people already watched. We thought this would make customers

    believe on the quality of our products. We do not want to offer them movies that are a 100

    years old. We want them to have access of the most popular movies inside of their homes.

    On the homepage, we have a Search Site which helps

    users find exactly the products they are looking for. It is efficient because it saves time for

    users who want to find the one movie they are looking for.

    Contacts are another part of our Homepage. We decided to

    put only an email address so customers can have some sort of contact with us. We did not

    have a direct phone number because we have many shops and did not want strangers calling

    our shops.

    On our homepage we offered a discussion board. Our main topic is which movies would you

    like to see on our website This will give our customers a chance to give us some ideas on

    future products. We would also change our topic every month. Our employees would be able

    to have contact through this comment box. Since our stores are available all over the world,

    our employees will have this website to discuss negative and positive aspects of the company.

    This will make communication between employees and customers much less complicated.

    Our aim for the poll on our website it to help make our site as useful as possible to our

    customers. Our team of employees will update this poll on a daily basis. This will help us as

    an organization to better understand why we are at a certain position. We will have statistics

    available at all times. We want to know every negative aspect of our site. This will help us

    become more successful in the future.

    Most of the time, people tend to watch

    movies that they are not interested in at all.

    They just want to reduce boredom and have

    time pass by quickly. We do not want our

    customer to spend much time trying to find

    a really good movie. Every week we wil put

    top rated and mostly watched movies on our

    homepage. The trailers will be available for

    the customer to decide if at that time this is

    something they are looking for.

    2.3 Products

    We only offered 2 products. MOVIES and SERIES! These two products are consisted with

    thousands of more products. We made movies from the 90s to 2013 available on this site.

    2.4 Sitemap

    A Sitemap is a list of pages of a web site accessible to users. It is typically organized in a

    hierarchical fashion and can be either a document used as a planning tool forWeb design, or a

    Web page. There are two popular versions of a site map:

    XML Sitemap - structured format that a user doesn't need to see, but it tells the searchengine about the pages in the site, their relative importance to each other, and how

    often they are updated; and

    HTML sitemap- designed for the user to help them find content on the page, and it

    doesnt need to include each and every subpage.

    3. FUNCTIONALITYThe functionality of portal05.webnode.com works without any problems, including fast

    search movies. Although it is a free service it guarantees functionality, stability and accuracy.

    3.1 Accessibility

    This website is easy to use because it is properly designed and provides accessibility to all

    users in the search for movies and other videos. From users we require registration in order to

    have the opportunity to leave a comment or add a video. Our employees will have their own

    login. When they login to the portal, they will able to find our code of ethics, statistical

    outcomes, as well as their pay lists. Most of the answers to their questions will be available

    once they login.

    3.2 Effectiveness/Efficieny

    The efficiency depends on many factors. Therefore, our website offers high quality imagesand watch movies without any problems. By the comments they leave, users are satisfied with

    the performance of our site.

    4. USABILITYUsability portal05.webnode.com is designed so that users can find the movie they want

    quickly and efficiently. Our website is made easy to use. Movies are arranged by category

    allowing users to easily search. Also there is the option of the latest movies. All the users

    want is easy to find using the "search". If there is some problem when loading movies, they

    can contact us. When a customer clicks on new video, he will be able to find the real ratings

    for certain movies which will help him decide which movie to watch.

    4.1 Navigation and Links

    The ease of navigation (it can be linear or nonlinear and these types are used depending on

    which is the aim of the presentation) is very important and it is necessary to include access to

    key areas of presentation on each side and that the user can obtain the desired by using few

    mouse clicks. Navigation and links to movies on our page is very easy, because you just go

    over a word the other possibilities are opening without a single click and still you can choose

    if you want to go further or to go back.

    5. AESTHETICSA web site can be viewed as if it were a picture. It needs to look balanced and pleasing.

    Colors and fonts need to harmonize with the theme of the site and not be centers of attention

    themselves. The layout of each page needs to direct eye movement to the key part of the page.

    We tried to make our website interesting and colorfull as we could ant to have the priority on

    the the front page of the movie which are our main products. We choose to put the name of

    our site on the top left hand corner and under it the slogan of our firm because we think this is

    most important and should be the first thing seen on the site.

    5.1 Graphical Design

    Graphic design of a web page is very important , since it is one of the first things that is going

    to attract a customer. When we talk about our graphical design we tried to make it simple with

    colors not to have many colors so the customers want get in the mess with colors.

    5.2 Textual Design

    Textual design on our page is very much simple just like the graphical design, since the name

    of movies and the description of them has to be readable quickly and easily to our customers.

    The font and style are classical with some usual size, and there is enough colors beside the

    text to make it easier to see.

    6. CONCLUSIONIn Conclusion, our goal was to make a portal that will help customers understand what our

    firm is about and help them gain trust in us. Knowledge management is about making the

    right knowledge available to the right people, so we aimed to connect our employees all over

    the world and help them communicate easier with each and at the same time provide the best

    service to our viewers. We accomplished this by using different graphic design, textual design

    and content.
