UIN Jakarta in Between The Three Bovernors

UIN campus is unique. Geographically, it stays at South Tangerang, province of Banten. Administratively, the campus has “Jakarta” name in it. Formerly, the campus of UIN Jakarta is located in Tangerang, West Java. After Banten became a separate province in 2000, UIN Jakarta is now located in the province of Banten.

Based upon the cantonal, UIN Jakarta until now “has” three governors: Jakarta, Banten and West Java. In some occasions, UIN Jakarta invites the governors of the three provinces to visit and stay in touch with the cam-pus.

According to the record, the former Rector of UIN Jakarta, Prof Dr. Komaru-din Hidayat, two governors were invited. They are the governor of Banten, Ratu Atut Chosiyah (2007) and the governor of DKI Ja-karta, Joko Widodo (2013). Both of them were invited to give halal bi halal speech. The current Rector, Prof Dr. Dede Rosyada invites another two governors, Rano Karno (2015) and Ahmad Heryawan (2016).

It is quite reasonable to invite the governor of Jakarta because the “Jakarta” name is already attached to UIN,

formerly Akademi Dinas Ilmu Agama (ADIA) and changed to Institut Agama Is-lam Negeri (IAIN). It means, the campus of UIN has be-come the property of Jakarta, morally or emotionally. And UIN Jakarta still contributes to the advancement of the region. As well as when invit-ing the governor of Banten, because the campus of UIN Jakarta now stands in Banten province.

How about the governor of West Java? Historically, before Banten become the separate province, the area now occupied by UIN Ja-karta is the part of West Java. The emotional bond between UIN Jakarta and West Java provincial government is still attached due to the history of “Wisma Kertamukti” on campus 2, Jalan Kertamukti or formerly known as the Jalan Pemda, in Cireundeu, East Ciputat. Because of

that, the bond between UIN Jakarta and West Java pro-vincial government can not be removed, either geographi-cally or historically.

Like humans, each prov-ince is like a foster father for UIN Jakarta. It is natural that UIN Jakarta, in a variety of significant event, often

ISO to Improve the Ser-vice Quality

invites the governor of each province. Not only governor who was invited to the cam-pus but also their deputies. Such as Deputy Governor of West Java, Dede Yusuf (2008) and Deputy Gover-nor of Banten Rano Karno (2014).

Vice Rector II of Public Ad-ministration Prof. Dr. Abdul Hamid MS asks all units in UIN Jakarta to implement a Quality Management System (QMS) ISO 9001 immedi-ately. The implementation of ISO 9001 is expected to improve the quality of ser-vice from each unit to the students.

The land is located at Jalan Kertamukti, Cireun-deu, East Ciputat, South Tangerang, Banten, or where the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FI-SIP) is currently standing. Based on the mutual agree-ment between the West Java government and UIN Ja-karta, signed in 2009, UIN Jakarta still has the right to use the land. The agreement lasted for 30 years and will be renewed every year.

“Although the land has been fully granted to UIN Jakarta, it won’t cancel the memorandum of coopera-tion which is signed before. It will be organized later between the West Java gov-ernment and The Ministry of Religious Affairs, in this case, UIN Jakarta, “said Aher, the governor of West Java.

In his speech, the rector is expected this year KKN to go smoothly as planned.

He also said that the students could carry the KKN with enthusiasm.

Through the KKN, stu-dents are supposed to ap-ply their knowledge in the community. We expect the implementation of KKN by the capacity of each student,” he said.

The Head of Center for Community Service (PPM), Jaka Badranaya, ME in his report said that as many as 2812 participants would be divided into 250 groups. “Unlike the previous years, there is there are 3-4 groups of the KKN partici-pants for this year so that the implementation can be more efficient,” Jaka explained.

According to him, the new policy is adopted by the evaluation of previous KKN.

It stated that the village with only consisted of one group of KKN participant had been considered less effective. That is because of the vast area and the massive population, so it cannot be optimally manage-able.

In addition to regular KKN, he added, PPM also sent its 20 students (one group) to follow the non-reg-ular KKN program or called as KKN Kebangsaan, and will be held at Tanjung Pinang, Riau province, and hosted by Universitas Maritim Raja Ali Haji (UMRAH). “KKN Ke-bangsaan will last for 40 days, from July 21 until August 28, 2016.” He said.
