INDIVIDUALISM

Individualism is the independence and uniqueness from other people.

An example of individualism is moving out when your at age, and having independence from your parents.

COLLECTIVISM

The idea that the thoughts of a group will be more beneficial than that of an individual.

An example of collectivism is donating money to charity. Someone who is wealthy helping the less fortunate to survive.

LIBERALISM

The idea that an individual freedom is more beneficial than that of a group.

An example of this is the liberal party in Canada.

SELF-INTEREST

A person’s own interest to do well or not to do well in their life.

Someone’s self-interest may be to go out and get a good job, rather than to sit on the couch and do nothing.

An example of this is any type of sport, where both teams are trying to win.

RULE OF LAW

A rule that everyone is equal and has a right to the law.

An example is when you violate a traffic law, and run a red light. You are obligated to pay the ticket.

PRIVATE PROPERTY

An area that is your own and you are entitled to rule that area.

An example of private property is my house. My parents own and rule that certain area.

An example of public property is Lacombe Composite High School which is owned by the Alberta government.

An identity that you yourself create, that a parts you from everyone else.

An example of individual identity may be your fashion, and how you present yourself. Lady Gaga chose to personalize herself by wearing meat.
