T OUCHING LIVES Touching Lives 4 The Rice Health Foundation Endowment provides a stable and consistent source of funds to support and enhance the health care mission of Rice Memorial Hospital. Funds from the endowment are dispersed annually in the form of grants to worthy programs and projects of the Rice organization.A portion is also designated to be awarded to healthcare related programs in the community. In fiscal year 2006, Rice Health Foundation's Board of Directors awarded grants totaling more than $133,000 to Rice Memorial Hospital and the community it serves. Grants were awarded to many great programs and services to improve the health and well-being of west central Minnesota. Wellness & Fitness Center Programs Willmar Public Schools A facility and programming established at Willmar Senior HS focusing on weight management and physical inactivity issues of students and the community. Gillette Mobile Outreach Clinics Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare Gillette staff members travel in specially equipped trucks to deliver services directly to individuals with disabilities in our community. Marketing for Gillette Clinics Increasing awareness of local services available for people with physical disabilities. Rice Grief Center Providing a multitude of bereavement and grief services at no charge. Fall Parish Nursing Seminar Educational offering for parish nurses, pastors and community health professionals. Aquatic Fitness Scholarships Assisting patients with financial costs of the warm water aquatic fitness program. Rehabilitation Supplies Scholarships Assisting patients with the cost of supplies not covered by insurance. Seasonal Family Activities Sessions Providing families with information and materials to keep their children involved in healthy activities that promote development year round. Irlen Syndrome Program Providing screening, treatment and supplies for individuals with this visual perception problem. Community Needs Assessment United Way of Kandiyohi County Identifying the needs of our community will help to better target the available resources. Heart Failure Clinic for Patient Transportation Assisting patients with transportation to appointments. Medical Interpreter Training Area Health Education Center Providing a professional development opportunity for medical interpreters in the area.

As the Rice Health Foundation Endowment increases in value, Rice Health Foundation will be better able toprovide funding where healthcare needs are greatest.The greater the value of the Endowment, the greater itsimpact will be on healthcare.The value of the Rice Health Foundation Endowment at the end of fiscal 2006 was$3.68 million. In 2007, we expect to grant over $153,000 to programs and services that will enhance the healthand well-being of our community. 5
