If you followed this car- toon you will recall the many adventures they shared, it just wasn’t what was planned, and in his unwillingness to see this, he seeks to rescue the summer. I know many of our young people are looking anx-iously at the calendar counting the days for the start of school, some with anticipation and others with dread. Al comenzar agosto, los reto a que se tomen tiempo para conversar con familiares y amigos, rezar juntos y recuerdan estas maravillosas bendiciones y luego tomarse unos momentos más para dar gracias a Dios. In-cluso puede enviar una tarjeta, correo electrónico, mensaje de Facebook o mensaje de texto a quienes están lejos para compartir su agradecimiento por las bendiciones que han compartido con usted en el pasado cer-cano o lejano.
Por último, como ha visto, estoy afeitado. Agradezco a todas y cada una de las familias e individuos que do-naron para la campaña. Fue divertido y exitoso. Como señalé anteriormente, no cerramos completamente la brecha para asegurar todos los fondos necesarios para la Campaña Renovado en la Luz, pero estamos mu-cho más cerca. Les enviaremos a todos los feligreses una actualización y, con suerte, a través de la genero-sidad de toda la comunidad, podremos avanzar hacia el futuro con alegría, nuevas luces y baños.

This is why prayer, examining our conscience and conversations with those we love are so very important. When we are able to reflect back on the days, weeks, months and years that have gone by we can begin to see the many blessings and gifts God has shared with us through his generosity of grace and the presence he becomes in those around us.
As we begin August I would challenge you to take time in conversation with family and friends, to pray togeth-er and to remember these wonderful blessings and then take a few more moments to give thanks to God. You can even send out a card, email, facebook message or text to those who are far away to share your thanks for the blessings they have shared with you in the near or distant past.
Lastly, as you have seen I am clean shaved. I thank each and every family and individual who donated to the campaign. It was fun and successful. As I noted earlier we did not fully close the gap to secure all the funding needed for the Renewed in the Light Campaign but we are much closer. We will be sending all parishioners an update and hopefully through the generosity of the whole community we will be able to move into the fu-ture with joy and new lighting and bathrooms.

“Family Spiritual Fitness” Summer Challenge
Come to Church and Celebrate Mass during Summer!
During the summer, we invite the kids and their families to stay active in your faith by participating either Saturday or Sunday Masses (at St. Lucy or any other Catholic Parish). Please pick up a form at the exists of the Church. After attending each Weekend Mass as family, please have the priest sign the form. Also, please answer the re-flection questions on a separate piece of pa-per every time you come to mass. At the end of summer, please turn in your sheet to the parish office no later than September 8th. The families that are “spiritually fit” (most attendance) will receive a dinner from the priests at St. Lucy.
Durante el verano, queremos pedirle a los niños y a sus famililas que se man-tengan activas en su fe participando de la misa de los sábados o domingos (en Santa Lucía u otra iglesia católica). Por favor, recoja la forma en las salidas de la iglesia. Después de asistir a misa ca-da fin de semana en familia pidan al sac-erdote que firme esta hoja. También, por

Everyone is invited this coming Wednesday, August 7, to celebrate the first Wednesday Mass in honor of Our Mother of Perpetual Help. The Novena-Mass is celebrated here at St. Lucy church every first Wednesday of the month at 6:00 PM. On other Wednesdays, the Novena to Our Mother of Perpetual Help is observed at 6:30 PM preceded by the praying of the Holy Rosary at 6 PM.
