“Making Up” “Making up” is a phrase used among Catholic people who support
their church by using the parish envelope system.
When someone misses Mass they place their usual offering in
their envelope and set it aside. The next time they attend Mass, they
deposit two or more envelopes into the collection.
“Making up” is really not a burden or additional sacrifice; it is
simply a new habit. By adopting this method of weekly support,
you provide the parish with a stable and reliable income.

Mercy Works Take action to Welcome the Stranger. During this month where we
remember the corporal work of mercy to Welcome the Stranger,
you can have a direct impact on the lives of refugees who are begin-
ning their new lives in the U.S. Donate basic items comprising one
of four “welcome kits” in the areas of household, kitchen, bedroom
and hygiene. These basic necessities help Catholic Charities furnish
homes for families who arrive in the U.S. after an exhausting jour-
ney with little more than the clothes on their backs. Shopping for
these items or building a welcome kit as a family can provide a
great opportunity to enter together into the experience of newly ar-
rived refugee families. Find the listing of welcome kit items and
learn how to donate by visiting CatholicCharitiesCamden.org/
mercy.

Catholic Schools Collection The weekend of January 30th & 31st is the kickoff to Catholic
Schools week. During all Masses, a special collection will be taken
which will benefit the Catholic elementary schools of the Diocese of
Camden. This is the first collection of its kind and will directly un-
derwrite the cost of providing Catholic education. Pope Francis has
told us, “as Catholics we have a moral imperative to support Catholic
education”. This collection will thereby benefit both the schools
themselves as well as families looking to make Catholic education a
possibility for their children. Please consider giving generously!

Ms. Shaniqua Nobles gratefully acknowledged receipt of the personal
hygiene items St. Josephine Bakhita Parish, KPC/LA Council and
Court #386 so generously donated to the Joseph’s House of Camden
and for partnering with the “Care for God’s Presence in our
Mist.” Each night the Joseph’s House provides food, shelter an even-
ing meal, as well as a place to shower and do laundry to as many as 80
or more men and women who otherwise spend the night on the streets
of Camden. Your donations really helped toward making Joseph’s
House a safe haven for the homeless.
Thank you,
Grand Knight William Weaver
