Part 1: Important NotesYou need to install a number of software in IS301. Some of them you install at the start of the semester. Some of them, you install during the lab session. This document provides you with the guide to install the software at the start of the semester. 1. All labs and guides are designed for computers with windows operating system. If you are using Mac, Linux or any other operating systems (OS), we regret to inform you that most software used in IS301 are supported on Windows only and there will no support provided for other OS. 2. All commercial software (e.g. TIBCO) provided in the course is strictly for academic purposes in IS301 only. Please seek special permission if you need to use the software for other courses (including IS480). Laptop Minimum Pre-requisite: The items below lists the minimum prerequisite for your laptop, please ensure you have the required components. a. Operating System Windows 7 b. Hard-disk Space at least 4GB of free space c. RAM at least 1GB

Part 2.2: Install a list of softwareBefore your 2nd Lesson, you must install the following software (respective installation guides are found in Appendix of this document) a. Java SDK 6.0 (also known as Java SDK 1.6) version 1.6.0_25. You dont have to install this if you have Java SDK 6.0 and above already installed. b. Notepad++ or any other editor that has syntax-highlighting for Java source code c. WAMP (for MySQL database) d. TIBCO Enterprise Messaging Server e. TIBCO Runtime Agent & TIBCO Rendezvous f. APPENDIX A: Java 6 (JDK1.6) Installation Guide EI_Software folder refers to the whole folder of EI_Software that you have downloaded from \\10.0.104.26\is301 This document guides you for J2SE Documentation installation as well. You can skip this installation if you already have a JDK version 1.6 installed

1. Double-click the file jdk-6u25-windows-x64.exe from EI_software\Java folder toinstall Java.

2. Choose Accept > in the License Agreement page.

3. In the Custom Setup page, click on the option Public JRE, and select the optionDon't install this feature now. Then click Next.

4. Once the InstallShield Wizard Complete appears, click Finish. You are donewith the installation.

Installing J2SE 6.0 Documentation (Optional you can use the online version) 1. Unzip the J2SE 6.0 documentation (jdk-1_5_0-doc.zip) from EI_software\Javafolder into C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_10\ or to a folder of your choice. The documentation bundle creates a docs/ directory containing your Java 2 Platform documentation.

2. Open the docs/index.html page in a browser. This is the front page and table ofcontents of the Java SDK documentation.

APPENDIX B: Notepad++ Installation Guide1. Double click on npp.4.7.2.Installer.exe (located in EI_Software\Editor) to start theinstallation.

Click on the OK button to continue.

2. Click on the Next> button.

3. Click on the I agree button in the License Agreement dialog.

4. In the Choose Install Location dialog box, click Next >.

APPENDIX C: MySQL Installation Guide1. Double click on the WAMP installation file from the respective folder (located inEI_Software\Database) based on your Windows architecture (32 or 64 bits) to start the installation.

2. Click Next to begin.

3. Accept the agreement and click Next to continue.

4. Use the default folder and click Next.

6. Click Install to begin and complete the installation.

7. When prompted to choose your default browser, you may click Open to choose IE or you may navigate to installation folder of your favorite browser (e.g. firefox is at C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox).

8. Allow your HTTP server to communicate in all networks.

9. PHP mail parameters you are not required to set up the mail function, hence justleave the default value. However, if you need to use mail function later for your projects, you may change the configuration.

10. Click Finish to end the installation.

11. If you have not un-ticked the Launch WampServer 2 now, you will notice WAMP is running and the control will appear at the taskbar.

APPENDIX D: TIBCO Enterprise Messaging Server Installation Guide1.Depending on your windows architecture (32/64 bits), choose the appropriate installation folder for your installation at EI_Software\Tibco\\1. Install this 1st - Enterprise Messaging. Unzip the installation file and run the TIBCOUniversalInstaller.exe within the extracted folder. Note: Screenshots may differ for 32bits/64bits version of your installations.

2. Double click on the installation file to begin the installation.Note: Same installation file for both 32-bits & 64-bits Windows operating system.

APPENDIX H: TIBCO Database Drivers Installation Guide1. Depending on your windows architecture (32/64 bits), choose the appropriateinstallation folder for your installation at 4. Install this 5th Database Drivers

2. Unzip the installation file TIB_dbdrivers_1.0.0_win_x86 orTIB_dbdrivers_1.0.0_win_x86_64 and run the TIBCOUniversalInstaller.exe within the extracted folder. Note: Screenshots may differ for 32bits/64bits version of your installations.

3. Click Next at start the installation.

4. Accept the license agreement and click Next.

5. Choose Typical and click Next.

6. If it cannot find an existing TIBCO_HOME, let it create a new one. Otherwise, if itdefaults to Use an existing TIBCO_HOME, that is fine too and click Next.

9. Once you are done with the above, copy MySQL database driver file mysql-connector-java-5.1.16-bin.jar (located in EI_Software\Database) to C:\tibco\tpcl\5.7\jdbc This will allow you to connect to MySQL databases via JDBC connection through TIBCO BusinessWorks.
