Manage your home or small office network easily with this full-featured file server. With the LaCie 2big Network, you can share files among Windows®, Mac, and Linux users thanks to its SMB and AFP support; or connect remotely through FTP, HTTP, and HTTPS file systems.

RAID ProtectionQuickly and easily select your RAID modes with the manual switch on the back of the drive. For maximum capacity, choose BIG with a RAID 0 array of the two hard drives. For maximum protection, choose SAFE (RAID 1) for automatic mirroring of one disk to the other (available capacity = 50%). The hot-swappable disk trays even allow maintenance without affecting your workflow; a defective disk can be replaced easily without having to turn off the LaCie 2big Network.

A Complete Backup SolutionGet extra security and increase data portability by incrementally backing up your LaCie 2big Network—on your own schedule—to an external hard drive through its USB ports using the built-in backup system. The 2big Network also comes with three client licenses for Genie Backup Manager Pro™ for Windows and three licenses for Intego Backup Manager Pro™ for Mac to install on each PC or Mac for client backups to the NAS. This software lets you reliably and efficiently back up your documents, emails, settings, or other digital assets; it supports compressed, encrypted, or image backups and implements a computer recovery function in case of a system failure.

Customizable Data AccessControlling access is simple; you can assign various security levels to shares, groups, user profi les, and public access. With Windows ADS domain support, there’s no need to recreate existing user and group accounts in your Windows domain, making it easy to manage for IT Administrators. Thanks to the Wake-on-LAN feature, the LaCie 2big Network can even be switched back to operating mode from the client side.

You can play your media on any UPnP AV-compatible Digital Media Adapter (DMA), such as a PS3 or Xbox, without needing a computer—you can store the information directly on the LaCie 2big Network. In fact, the LaCie 2big Network has been developed to be compatible with any DLNA multimedia device, and also works with iTunes®. In addition, users can set the LaCie 2big Network to download torrent fi les automatically without the PC having to be turned on.
