From Your Friends At Freedom Oil Co, Lacon The Toluca Food Pantry would like to thank Boy Scout Troop #727 for the food they picked up from homes in Toluca, for their an- nual food drive. This is the single largest donation of non-perishable food the Pantry has ever received. The Troop is made up of mem- bers from various communities in the area. Toluca Boy Scouts Launch Huge Food Drive We sincerely thank all the Boy Scouts and their leaders for their hard work and the citizens of Tolu- ca for their donations! 4-H members from Bureau, La- Salle, Marshall and Putnam Coun- ties gathered together at Illinois Valley Community College for a fun, Halloween-themed 4-H Of- ficer Training. Through hands-on activities participants learned all about their role as a club officer, positive youth development, how to make meetings fun and effec- tive and parliamentary procedure. They took home many resources that they will be able to use within their 4-H clubs. 4-H clubs are run by youth of- ficers, including a president, vice president, secretary, treasurer and reporter, with the support of adult volunteer leaders. Other offices can also be included like histori- an and parliamentarian. Officers are responsible for the monthly meetings running smoothly and efficiently, as well as setting the tone for the club and its members. In lending support to their clubs, officers are also learning leader- ship skills that they will be able to put to use in many settings beyond their 4-H club. Local 4-H Members Attend Officer Training Held At Illinois Valley Community College Illinois Valley Center for Inde- pendent Living, 18 Gunia Dr., La- Salle is holding an Open House for testing FREE amplified telephones for those who are deaf/hard-of- hearing on Monday, December 11 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. You must be a resident of Illinois, have an active land line or cell phone service, and have a certified hear- ing loss, in order to qualify for these services. New this year: a cell phone amplifier! Please con- tact IVCIL at (815) 224-3126 to make an appointment or to receive an application form.
