Career Gaga initially began a band called the Stefani Germanotta Band (SGBand) with some

friends guitarist Calvin Pia, bassist Eli Silverman, drummer Alex Beckmann and booking manager Frank Fredericks. The band played in bars such as he Greenwich Village's The Bitter End and the Lower East Side's the Mercury Lounge. They developed a small fan base, catching the attention of music producer Joe Vulpis. After arranging sessions at Vulpis’s studio, the band were selling gigs around New York and becoming a regular fixture of the Lower East Side club scene.

In 2006 Gaga met music producer Rob Fusari and the SGBand reached the peak of their career, when Gaga was scouted by Wendy Starland to be a female singer to front a new band.

In 2007, aged 20, Gaga began work at Interscope Records as a songwriter for other artists on the label, including Britney Spears, New Kids on the Block, and The Pussycat Dolls. Akon discovered Gaga while she was performing a burlesque show "Lady Gaga and the Starlight Revue." Akon was thoroughly impressed with her performance and signed the performer to his label under the Interscope umbrella, Kon Live. From 2007-2008, Gaga wrote and recorded her debut album, The Fame. The record was received with positive reviews and popular success in the United States and with the help of her own creative team, "Haus of Gaga," the performer began to quickly establish a name for herself internationally.

Famous quotes "When I'm writing music, I'm thinking about the clothes I want to wear on stage.

It's all about everything altogether - performance art, pop performance art, fashion. For me, it's everything coming together and being a real story that will bring back the super-fan. I want to bring that back. I want the imagery to be so strong that fans will want to eat and taste and lick every part of us." The Haus of Gaga has been said to "bring the performance art into the mainstream channels".

“Every bit of me is devoted to love and art. And I aspire to try to be a teacher to my young fans who feel just like I felt when I was younger. I just felt like a freak. I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm trying to liberate them, I want to free them of their fears and make them feel that they can make their own space in the world.”

“Whether I'm wearing lots of makeup or no makeup, I'm always the same person inside.2

“I've been actually really very pleased to see how much awareness was raised around bullying, and how deeply it affects everyone. You know, you don't have to be the loser kid in high school to be bullied. Bullying and being picked on comes in so many different forms.”
