410Total Accidents By Quarter (Reports) 2015-2018
3rd Quarter 2018 Analysis • 1818600282 Shots fired at 14402 Washington Ave SW. 22 pistol rounds were fired at the back of the apartment (door, windows,
walls and vehicle), in retaliation for an earlier shooting out in county. Two Arrests were made. Nebulous gang connection.
• 1821600043 Shooting/Death Investigation at Pine Ridge Apts – 5622 Boston Ave SW. Fight in the parking lot led to shots fired and one deceased. Suspect surrendered stating he shot in self-defense. Evidence seems to confirm. No charges filed as of yet.
• 1822801570 – Stabbing at the Hipkins Rd Jack in the Box. Conflict between employees resulted in a stab wound to the abdomen. Victim was transported and eventually released. Suspect was arrested a couple weeks later.
• 1825701915 – Shooting 14848 Woodbrook Dr. Argument between resident and management results in resident coming out and firing a .44 Magnum at the manager and a number of other people including a mom with a toddler. Suspect was arrested held on $1m bail charged with 3x counts of Assault 1st.
• 1827300405 – Vehicle Prowl became a multi-agency pursuit that started near Dekoven Dr and ended westbound on the eastbound side of Highway 16 when a State Patrol Trooper rammed the eluding vehicle ending the chase. Two suspects were arrested for the stolen vehicle and numerous other stolen items as well as felony eluding, reckless endangerment and vehicular assault.
• Violent Crime numbers returned to the low 358 mark compared to 357 for the same timeframe last year. This number is still heavily driven by simple assaults. Kidnapping (often driven by DV related unlawful imprisonment) jumped up to 12 for the quarter; the highest quarter in 2018.
• Property crime dropped again in the 3rd Quarter steadily declining since 4th Quarter 2017. Burglary dropped from 134 (2Q2018) to 97 (3Q2018). Motor Vehicle Theft has dropped all year long from 114 in 1Q2018 down to 81 (3Q2018).
• Apartment numbers are still being driven by smaller size apartments (5-10 Units) when measured by CFS/Units. 26 unit Avalon Place Apartments in LD04 had a bad quarter with 7 Serious Calls For Service giving it a .27 CFS per unit for the quarter. KarwanVillage MHP with 46 units in LD03 led (again) MHPs with 7 Serious Calls For Service (15 in the last 2 quarters) giving it a .15 per unit average for the 3rd Quarter.
• Bars and motels experienced a slight spike in 3rd Quarter 2018 with the Western Inn on S Tacoma Way and New World VIP Lounge on S Tacoma Way seeing serious activity. Kyota is a restaurant in the same strip mall as NW VIP Lounge and Dispatch credited them with what was more than likely New World’s Serious Calls For Service.
“Victimless” Crime Arrests
• Looking at arrest data from January through September 15th, 2018, we found:• Only 14.4% of arrests were for “victimless” crimes
• Victimless crimes were disorderly conduct, obstructing, DWLS, and drug arrests
• The single most prominent arrest was for outstanding warrants (24%), the second was for simple assault (7%).
