2013 Fall Guide Catalog
Rivers Lakes Private Water
LGC’s 2013 Fall Catalog
Fall is my favorite time of year.
Weather turns crisp, steelhead
emerge into the North Valley rivers
and the” egg drop” happens. The
Lower Sacramento is bursting wide
open, with trout gorging
themselves on eggs. Not -to
mention the wild trout in
Manzanita Lake are busy preparing
(AKA eating everything in sight) to
get ready for the ice over. Digger
Creek Ranch trout get into motion
with cooler water – the fish are
energized and willing to take flies
like candy. Whatever the choice of
quarry you’re looking for this fall
season – we have a spot for you.
So get out there and fish!!

FEATURES
Lower Sacramento River “Eggs & Legs”, screaming guest and
smiles on everyone’s face. Reels
screaming, hooks stressing and wild fish
posing for portraits. A great drift!
Manzanita Lake Wild browns & bows’ fill this national
park still water. This lake is a fantastic
lake to test your skills on. Great fish!
Fly Fishing Tours Wild trout, hard fighting steelies, that’s
right, who could ask for anything more.
With Putah Creek, American River
Steelhead, and the Yuba River Tours on
the board for this fall and early winter.
The time is now to learn these great
fisheries!
Digger Creek Great fish, great lodge and a custom
private water experience that you design.
That’s what private water should be!
The Lower Sacramento
River
The Lower Sacramento
The Lower Sacramento River is a true western treasure. It’s a premier blue ribbon
trout fishery located on Interstate 5 corridor. It’s a river that in the fall comes alive.
The river seems to shake off the summer heat and with the support of the Salmon
and Steelhead entering the system the wild trout are thrilled. Gorging on eggs,
caddis, stones and mayflies the trout blinders are removed and in a term “out of
control” and eating everything in sight.
A great time to drift the Lower Sacramento, open dates are October 4,24,28 and the
30th, November 6,7 and 14th. Drift boat trips include, all equipment, a river side
lunch, beverages and all terminal tackle. Drift boat trips are $395 per day
maximum of two anglers. Learn More
Manzanita Lake
Manzanita Lake
With a beautiful vista and wild trout the fly fisher can get lost on this pristine still
water fishery. Manzanita Lake is located just inside the Lassen Volcanic National
Park on the corner of Highway 44 and Highway 36 in Northern California.
It’s a place where anglers come to test their skills against these wild rainbows and
browns. These fish can be very picky from examining your fly for imperfections to
judging the way you cast. This lake is the spot that anglers test their resolve and
where landing fish means success and triumph over these wary souls. Learn More
Fly-Fishing Tours
Fly-Fishing Tours
The fly-fishing tours are truly awesome. Everyone that has attended a tour has fallen in
love with it. Many people attend multiple tours. These tours are simply the best way to
get fast, reliable, down to earth hands on instruction on a fishery that you would like to
get to know better. Most of them are one day tours – many are turning into two day
tours for the huge amount of information that we cover. We also want to cast a line,
help out participants with casting and rigging issues and to fish. We always have fishing
time in the tours – that is what it’s all about. Learn More
The American River
Steelhead Tour
The American River Steelhead Tour
This tour was completely sold out last year. In fact we had to add more and more dates, as
every time we made a new tour it was sold out. This tour is a perfect way to get to know
this entire city water way. A parkway surrounds the river, giving all types of wild animals
a place to grow: and flourish in their natural environment. The river is no exception.
Steelhead visit this river in huge numbers and with control water from both Folsom and
Nimbus Dams the steelhead have an ideal atmosphere. These fish the largest fish in the
valley rivers with the average fish weighing 8 pounds. Fish as large as 15 pounds are
common. The river has both wild and hatchery fish living and spawning in the system
which gives the fly fisher and ideal area to hook many fish. Access areas, single and
double handed techniques, rigging for both and a riverside lunch are included in this tour.
The tour dates are January 4,5,11 and 12. Only 3 people per tour, $145 each per person. Learn More
Yuba River Tour
The Yuba Tour
Jon Baiocchi and I developed this program for the Lower Yuba last year. It was an
instant hit, with both tours being sold out. The tour is a deep look at all aspects of the
lower river. We don’t just cover the usual topics; access areas, rigging, hatches,
techniques – but we also do a many entomology class inside the tour where we match
insects with their counterpart imitations. A great tour! We are having two tours this
year. Each tour will have 6 people with Jon and me as the guides. The cost to attend
the tour is $145 per person. Tour dates are February 6 and 13, 2014. Learn More
Putah Creek Tour
Putah Creek Tour
Putah Creek is a great little creek. The fish are wild, strong and many are very
large. This creek is becoming the creek of the past with one noted difference –
the fish are all wild. This creek is not for the faint of heart. Large fish are
caught on small flies and very light tippet. Midges are the primary food source
for these wary monsters and landing a fish is an extreme sport. A great fishery
located just hours from the San Francisco Bay area and minutes from
Sacramento. Tour dates are November 21, 2013 and December 14, 2013, $145
per person. Learn More
Digger Creek Ranch
Digger Creek Ranch
Private water fisheries are great planned getaways for both
novice and experienced anglers. There is nothing better than
depositing fish into the old fish bank to be pulled out on
days where the fishing is tough. This private water fishery is
different in the fact that you can make it our own. You can
keep it simple and just fish it for the day – or you can go
big and hire guides with catered dinners, prepared to your
taste. We can book you anytime you would like to enjoy
this lodge and private trout fishery. Learn More
