Zakopane- lies in a big valley between the Tatra Mountains and Gubałówka Hill. It is
the most important Polish centre of mountaineering and skiing. The most important
alpine skiing locations are Kasprowy Wierch, Nosal and Gubałówka Hill. Other famous place
in Zakopane is the Valley of Three Lakes.

Located under the town of Wieliczka is the Wieliczka Salt Mine – one of the world's
oldest operating salt mines (the oldest is at Bochnia, Poland, 20 kilometers from Wieliczka),
which has been in operation since prehistoric times.

Pupils from our school visited Wieliczka last week. The trip was fantastic!!!, we spent there about three hours and we had really a
good time!!!

Kraków - one of the largest and oldest cities in Poland. It was the capital of Poland
from 1038 to 1596, the capital of the Grand Duchy of Kraków from 1846 to 1918, and the
capital of Kraków Voivodeship from the 14th century to 1999. It is now the capital of the
Lesser Poland Voivodeship.
Famous landmarks include: the Main Market Square with St. Mary's Basilica and
the Sukiennice Cloth Hall, the Wawel Castle, the National Art Museum, the Zygmunt Bell at
the Wawel Cathedral, and the medieval St Florian's Gate with the Barbican along the Royal
Coronation Route. In 1978, UNESCO added Kraków's historic centre, which includes the Old
Town, Kazimierz and the Wawel Castle to the list of World Heritage Sites.

Bieszczady- is the Polish name of the western part of what the Polish call Eastern
Beskids (Beskidy Wschodnie). It is a part of the Carpathian Mountains. The highest peak of
Bieszczady is Mt. Pikuy (1405 m) in Ukraine. The highest peak of the Polish part is Tarnica
(1346 m).

Nałęczów - is a spa town (population 4,800) in Poland's Lublin Province, situated on
the Nałęczów Plateau. The 18th-century discovery of healing waters initiated the development
of a health resort; chiefly treated there are circulatory disorders.

Masuria - an area in northeastern Poland famous for its lakes and forests. Masuria and
the Masurian Lake District are known in Polish as Kraina Tysiąca Jezior - meaning "land of
