Some of our Points of PRIDE:
Strings Program LBC is proud to be one of the few middle schools
that offers string orchestra for 6th, 7th, and 8th
grade students. As well as performing for the
school and community, our students are
prominent participants in the Garcia All-County
Orchestra Festival. Our students have had the
privilege of working with members of the
Graduate Strings Ensemble for USC Columbia as
well as students and faculty from the Julliard
School of Music located in New York City.
Chorus
The LBC 8th grade Choral program performs
regularly for school assemblies such
as Veteran’s Day, Christmas, Black History
Month, Celebration Night, as well as a Spring
performance for the school and community.
This past December they performed the
production of "Christmas In Oz". They have
had the pleasure of working with faculty
members from the Julliard School of Music in
New York City and from USCA, and recently
took a technical tour of the Washington Center
for the Performing Arts in Aiken, SC. Chorus
students perform a wide variety of literature as
well as compose their own songs.
Band
On April 21st, the LBC Band traveled to
Charlotte, NC to perform at the Carowind’s
Festival of Music. The panel of judges this year
included Mr. David Shaffer, world renown
composer. Mr. Shaffer composed the finale
selection performed by the LBC Band. The
band put on a wonderful concert and received
the highest possible rating from each of the
judges, a superior! Congratulations to the LBC
band for their dedication and hard work in the
pursuit of musical excellence.
Golf
This year’s team was an excellent group of 7th
and 8th graders who gave their best each time
they played. Each one of them made us proud
of their attitudes and sportsmanship. We hope
that all future LBC golf teams have the
character that this team had.
Our Mission
The mission of Langley Bath Clearwater Middle
School is to deliver quality instruction that
fosters high academic achievement and social
development in a safe and nurturing
environment in collaboration with the home and
community.
Synergistic Lab LBC’s 7th and 8th graders visit the lab throughout
the year with their Science and Math teachers.
They explore such concepts as Robotics, Energy,
Power & Mechanics, Plastics & Polymers, and
Alternative Energy with the hands-on, interactive,
electronic modules.
Academics • 100% of our English I and Algebra I students
passed the EOC test.
• Our students have earned 8653.9 Accelerated
Reader points this year.
• 14 Duke Tip Scholars
• LBC offers 5 subjects for high school credit:
English I, Algebra I, Spanish, Keyboarding,
Chorus, and Strings.
• The Gifted and Talented program experienced
the election process by studying a William and
Mary Unit called "Road to the White House" last
semester. This entitled them to study the
democratic process and systems, roles and
responsibilities of the President, the three
branches of government, primaries and
nominating convention process, electoral college
and campaign simulations. This was an intense,
interesting, and enlightening unit.
Extracurricular Activities Our sports and fine arts programs offer wonderful
opportunities for our students. We offer sports
teams including: football, basketball, volleyball,
cheerleading, golf and bowling. We also have band,
strings, and chorus. Our students also participate in
a variety of academic and service organizations to
include the academic team, Beta club, yearbook,
gardening club, student council and the news crew.
The Yearbook Staff worked diligently and hard to
highlight the 2012-2013 school year.
