Lecture on NY 44th Regiment in the Civil WarLATHAM – The Friends of Pruyn House will present a lecture by Bruce Eelman on the New York 44th Regiment in the Civil War. Free and open to the general public, the event begins at 2pm on Sunday, November 6, at the Pruyn House. In August 1861, the 44th New York Infantry regiment formed in response to the death of Colonel Elmer Ellsworth, a New York native, nationally-known military fi gure, and a personal friend of Abraham Lincoln. This lecture will focus on how the 44th New York Regiment offers an opportunity to examine the military, political, and social experience of war from both a New York and a national perspective. Personal correspondence and other primary sources are used to connect the daily life of the com-mon soldier to the wider issues of the Civil War. Then in your merciful eyes, it will become your favor, not mine. Amen. Say this prayer for 3 days, promise to publish it and your favor will be granted. A.M.S.
