EXPERIENCE THE WORLD AT LAURIER

LAURIER INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY

The Laurier International Community in Waterloo provides a unique living environment by offering you comfortable furnished living arrangements as well as a rich learning space. Join other students from diverse perspectives (upper year exchange students and international and domestic students) and explore ideas and global issues together in a culturally diverse environment. You are encouraged to develop your knowledge and skills by engaging in international related learning activities and taking on leadership roles by organizing learning experiences and campus-wide outreach programs.

STUDENT GROUPS

There are many ways for you to get involved! Join our Global Engagement Student Ambassadors (Waterloo), Global Engagement Student Council (Waterloo) or the Global Engagement Campus and Community Outreach (Brantford) to help in the planning and execution of Global Engagement Week or student exchange events. These groups are great opportunities to meet new people, practice your intercultural communication and be recognized on the Laurier Co-Curricular Record (CCR).

STUDY ABROADSTUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAMLaurier has partnered with universities all over the world to offer exchange programs to our students. Currently, we have exchange agreements with more than 65 universities in 29 countries around the world. Studying abroad allows you to broaden your perspective of the world and gain an increased sense of self and independence while building skills transferable to future employment. If you participate in an international exchange, you continue to pay tuition to Laurier but study and earn credits at a university outside of Canada.

SUMMER ABROAD Not sure you can go abroad for a full term? Our summer abroad opportunities allow you to study abroad at one of our designated partners for a few weeks, while still earning credits towards your degree. Opportunities exist in Mexico, Germany, China and more!

FACULTY LED INITIATIVES

FIELD COURSES Study Spanish in Costa Rica, History in Russia, Global Studies issues in Chile, or Human Rights and Human Diversity in Mexico. A variety of field courses have been created by Laurier’s outstanding faculty to add an experiential learning opportunity to their courses.

INTERNSHIPS Stand out among the competition and add an international work experience to your portfolio with one of Laurier’s internship opportunities.

Departments such as Global Studies, Human Rights and Human Diversity, and the Faculty of Social Work provide opportunities for you to put what you have learned in the classroom to work in an international setting.
