The City Manager expla ined that it was or iy irially planned that the project would be done in two phases, but wi tl-I defrrlaent ot the Civic Center l'roject, it was duter~l~ined tliat both t'l~ases I and 11 could be undertaken at. the same time; hun~vur, bids were taken on Phase I, Phase 11, and a co~nbinecl hid on both l'hasus, including several alternates. The stat'f and the architect recommended that the contract be awarded to Lamar Waller, Inc., on their comoined bid of $2,158,801, plus Phase I, Alternate 3, and Phase 11, Alternates a 2 and 4, making a total contract price ot. $2,171,441. J Mr. Gene Lebel, with Wony and Turig and Partners, Inc., stated that the project will include five new buildings: equipment service, pheventive ntairitenarice, service center otf ice building, parks building, and an animal shelter. He explained the alternates that are recolmnended tor inclusion in the Project: Alternate No. 3 - water improvements, an 8.-inch l inc and tlrrue new fire hydrants; Alternate No. 2 - clrainaqe iilnprovements around an existing storage building; and Alternale No. 4 - a deduct alternate, water improvelnants. Hc: liurtl~cr Stated that the contract calls for completion ot the project in 360 calendar days. Formal award ot the contract is an item on the Consent Agenda.
