• Purposely I have shaded parts of the scriptures with different colors to call the attention to a particular part of the passage.

• Meditate in them one by one, let God give you revelation of the prophetic signs that in these dreams are enclosed.

• Look for similar passages in the Bible and compare the different parts of those dreams.

• 3 But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, “Indeed you are a dead man because of the woman whom you have taken, for she is a man’s wife.” 4 But Abimelech had not come near her; and he said, “Lord, will You slay a righteous nation also? 5 Did he not say to me, ‘She is my sister’? And she, even she herself said, ‘He is my brother.’ In the integrity of my heart and innocence of my hands I have done this.”

Genesis 20:6-7 (NKJV)• 6 And God said to him in a dream, “Yes, I know that you did this in the integrity of your heart. For I also withheld you from sinning against Me; therefore I did not let you touch her. 7 Now therefore, restore the man’s wife; for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you and you shall live. But if you do not restore her, know that you shall surely die, you and all who are yours.”

Abraham prays to God to heal Abimelech.

• 17 So Abraham prayed to God; and God healed Abimelech, his wife, and his female servants. Then they bore children; 18 for the LORD had closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech because of Sarah, Abraham’s wife.

No limits to God.• This proves that God can communicate with whom ever He wishes to.

•One does not have to be anointed,

• Very close to God or even saved to have a dream or dreams from God.

• If Abimelech, an unsaved man can have a real dream from God, the same can happen with you today.

The Four Dreams ofJoseph the Carpenter.

Page 16: Learning from the dreams in the bible

Joseph the Carpenter

Scripture doesn’t tell us much about Joseph.

However we know that: Joseph came from the town of

Bethlehem. He was from the lineage of David.

Jewish law made Jesus legally from the

line of David.

Joseph was a carpenter. We know this because Jesus was

referred to as the carpenter’s sonHe probably taught the trade to Jesus.

Page 17: Learning from the dreams in the bible

Joseph a just man•Matthew 1:19 (NKJV)

• 19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly.

Page 18: Learning from the dreams in the bible

Carpenter’s son•

Matthew 13:55 (NKJV)

• 55 Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers James, Joseph,

Simon, and Judas?

Page 36: Learning from the dreams in the bible

Conclusions:•God communicates and uses ordinary people like you and me.

• Joseph was a humble man.

• He was not intellectual or theologian.

• Yet God used this humble man to shape the life of the Word of God made flesh.

Page 37: Learning from the dreams in the bible

Conclusions:•God honours those who listen and obey.

Looks like Joseph was indeed a man of faith. Maybe that is why he is described as a “righteous man”.

Joseph was a man who listened and obeyed what God and the Angel told him to do.

• No arguing with the Angel – no discussion – he simply got on with it.

Page 38: Learning from the dreams in the bible

Conclusions:•God will guide his disciples.

Joseph didn’t end up in Egypt by “chance”. He went there because of the clear leading of God.God spoke to him in a dream.

He knew where he was going because he listened to what God told him to do.In doing so, he saved his life, Mary and Jesus’ lives. What can we learn from Joseph?

Page 39: Learning from the dreams in the bible

True discipleship is about :

•Listening to what God has to say

That means making time to stop and listen

Obeying what He tells you to do, when He says it

Sometime obedience to God is the difference between life and death

Page 40: Learning from the dreams in the bible

• Why did God choose Joseph out of all the potential fathers in Israel to mentor Jesus as he was growing up?

Perhaps – because He knew Joseph to be an godly and obedient man
