BULLETIN OF THE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO 25

works in the Library has been still fur- ther increased through the generosity of Mr. J. C. Cebrian of San Francisco, by thirty-three volumes and nine pamphlets on Spanish art and archeology. Promin- ently among these figure twenty-two volumes of Boletins de la Sociedad Es- pafiola de Excursiones, of Madrid which contain a profusely illustrated report of a most enthusiastic archeological and artistic movement in Spain.

The Catilogo de la exposici6n de tejidos Espafioles, showing, as it does, wonderful reproductions of Spanish fab- rics of the period prior to the introduc- tion of the Jacquard loom, will appeal to those interested in developing the design- ing of textiles in America.

The splendid biographies of the I7th century painter Juan de Valdes Leal by Jose Gestoso and A. de Beruete y Moret, fill a distinct niche in that department, as does also the fine Album de la ex- posici6n de mobiliario Espafiol add at- tractiveness to the furniture collection.
