It is a subject focused on understanding (directing and

controlling) a complex technical, social and economic activity

It is interdisciplinary, requiring students to blend these

disciplines

The programme is a broad based, academic approach to

management

It is not vocational, not ‘Business Studies’

It will develop your capacity to think, to approach and solve

problems and equip you intellectually for the world of work

Graduates may go into management – or one of many other

areas of employment

Standard A Level offer – AAB

Excluding General studies and Critical Thinking

We do not accept UCAS tariff points

Maths Grade B at GCSE

English Language Grade B at GCSE

International Baccalaureate

A total of 34 points with 17 points at Higher Level and a minimum 5

points in all subjects

Application

With a ratio of applicants to places of 11:1, you need to

make sure your application is the best it can be

Selection is based on the whole UCAS form – especially predicted

grades and your personal statement

We look for an active interest in the subject – e.g. through relevant

work experience, internships, entrepreneurship

Teaching

Teaching is carried out through a combination of lectures,

seminars, tutorials, independent group work

Additional reading, exercises, case studies encourage

Virtual Learning Environment – provides resources and a

forum for discussion

Assessment : exams and assignments, sometimes group

based; includes posters and presentations

Study abroad / placement year

It is possible to transfer to a 4 year programme and take

either a Year in Industry or a Study Year Abroad

–Academic Requirements - a Year 1 average of at least 50 for a

Year in Industry and 60 for a Study Year Abroad

These opportunities are facilitated via specific modules

and dedicated professional support staff

Additional year taken as year 3; no need to decide until

the end of year 1
