Maddie Zimmerman is the first recipient of the F.O.R.E Scholarship. The scholarship is given out by the junior golf program. The F.O.R.E Scholarship stand for “The Fostering the Opportunity to Reach further Education.” The program looks for a student who has the 4 C’s which or what they have done on the course, classroom, community and character. Maddie has been a great example of all these. On the course she has always work hard on her game and has had become one the best junior girl in the area. Next year she will be going to Kentucky Wesleyan College. In the classroom she has shown to be an excellent student with high grade point average. Her community presence is outstanding. She has volunteered her time with the junior golf program and also at the Ellen Trout Zoo. There is where she learned more about animals and let her passion for animals take her to a new experience at the Zoo. Next year she will start studying for a degree in Zoology. And finally her character is always above par. Maddie is an incredibility responsible, dedicated and caring individual. The junior program is very proud to award Maddie this Scholarship.
Swing Training News/ Golf Performance Center: We have continued to make improvements in the indoor training area, new lighting, and a TV screen in this area to help you see where you need to improve. We have upgraded this area with new flooring and wall areas the make the echo go away.
This will allow us thru out the year to continue growing golf here at Crown Colony. The more people in the area realize what Crown Colony has to offer, the more members and guest we will have here. Some of the things we have to offer are: Trackman for short game, full swings and club fitting. Second: Super Speed training system for increasing club head speed. Third: video system we have you can be on your way to having better mechanics. Fourth: coming soon will be a simulator playing indoor golf, that next step to make you even more consistent, when you can’t play outdoors you will be able to play indoors. If you would like more information or to begin working on making you better just email me at [email protected]. Make this your best golf year ever!
If you know of anyone who you want to get involved in playing this great game you need to tell them about the programs we are going to be promoting. The first of these is our Get Golf Ready Program. This is a five lesson program for just $99. In five lessons we get students on the golf course enjoying this great game that we all love.

LGa News By Susan Laws
WEATHER—OR NOT! Assuming the Heavens eventually rain themselves out, we can anticipate much golfing fun this Spring under the guidance of Melissa Abeldt and our new LGA Board. Next up is the annual First Tee Frolic, scheduled for March 7th. To insure good weather, organizers Lynda Langston and Sherry Raska are prepared to go straight to a higher power on our behalf. Do not miss Thursday, March 21st which featurs a Fun Day event called “David & Goliath.” Fran Glenn and Susie Shands promise an entertaining team event designed to accommodate players of all handicaps. (1 best ball on par 4’s, 2 best balls on par 3’s & 5’s.) David & Goliath will reappear in June so keep your eyes open for their return! In addition to our group play days, Ben has set dates for our FREE “golf tune-up” classes. These valuable lessons for ladies will be offered March 19-21 (8:00am to 9:00am) and March 26-28 (6:00pm to 7:00pm.) We are so grateful to Ben & Cory for donating their time. Don’t pass up this wonderful opportunity to start your golf season on the right track. IMPORTANT NOTICE: LGA Tee Times will roll back to 9:00am beginning April 1st. *This is not an April Fools joke so plan to get yourself out of bed earlier beginning next month. You’ll thank us come summer! As we wait patiently for decent golfing conditions, Stephen and crew are working hard to make sure the course
is ready for us when we are ready for it. The grounds crew continues to keep things well-manicured, trimming trees, repairing water damage and treating greens for foreign grasses. I speak for the entire LGA when I thank Stephen and company for their dedication and hard work. And thank you to the incomparable Mary Virginia Casper for continuing to represent LGA interests on the Greens Committee. Please continue to pray for Ben Burns and his family. Ben acknowledges the healing power of your prayers during his recent surgery and the subsequent recovery process. Also, join me in wishing a very Happy March Birthday to Harriet Tamminga and Betsy Henderson. Cheers to all. See you on the tee!
